Came across one on ebay by chance ...i never even knew boss made something like this...!!....looks like a good preamp for acoustic stuff especially with the built in chorus and reverb along with the blend function to use a soundhole and undersaddle pickup together....sadly it's been discontinued....anyone any experience of this unit...?? ...
A friend of mine used the AD-3 through a guitar amplifier when there was no PA/acoustic amp available due to the guitar amp-out functionality of this range and it sounded pretty good. Not as good as acoustic mic'd properly, through an acoustic amp or PA but significantly better than acoustic straight into a guitar amp. If I saw one for a good price I'd definitely get it. How much is it going for?
the soundhole/piezo combo sounds neat too, I'd imagine there would be some interesting tonal possibilities there.
It was at $47 when i saw it on ebay but i didn't follow the auction...i hadn't seen one before and assumed they were still in production... i might keep an eye peeled in some of the local pawnshop/cash converters or possibly one might be traded in some guitar shop..... yep it looks like a good litle box and the mix function gave me the idea for using two pickups..at the moment i'm using a homemade tele neck pickup in a slot cut out of a rubber soundhole feedback buster...good for that django type 30's gypsy jazz vibe but the bronze wound strings are a bit softer in volume probably due to the fact it's a magnetic pickup for steel string electrics but it's still livable with.......i tried putting the under saddle pickup out of the old ovation i had lying around but it doesn't pick up the top or bottom E strings...must be too short for the saddle width so i will put that back in the ovation .......at the moment i use it the 'telebuster' through the pedal board with a GE-7 as my preamp/EQ straight to the PA...i have a DI box i'm going to use next time so i go XLR to the channel input rather than pedalboard to line input on the PA to see if it improves the sound.....
