I'm now eagerly awaiting it's arrival
Hey Natthu,
Was it new or second hand? I just did a search on eBay and didn't find any Dominators anywhere.

It's new from an authourised dealer in Canada. They only had one left and that was the only one I found on eBay. Seller is sixdegreesmusic. If you wanted one they might be able to order or something? (they have a few other Okko pedals aswell).
Maybe Mully's dealer in Germany can get more of them? |

Thanks Natthu, I will check it out.
Was it reasonably priced? The only Okko pedal I found on eBay was the Twin Sonic Clean Boost/Gain Boost for close to AU$400.
I also emailed the only Australian distributor listed on the Okko website for a price but given they have the Twin Sonic listed at AU$510 I'm not holding my breath.

well there's usually a small waiting list when ordering directly from OKKO since he hand builds them and has to ship to distributors first I guess...
Gregor will get new Pedals in a bout 3 - 4 weeks.... usual waiting period when ordering direct is 7 weeks...
I guess this time pedal prices are cheaper in germany & europe - of course Australia seems to be the most expensive place to buy any gear at all. I wonder if stuff made in Australia is more expensive over there as well ;) |

Stengah - Yeah it was pricey . Nearing AUD 400.
Mully - Everything is expensive here in Australia (except Maton guitars - they are made here). It sucks. I can't remember the last time I bought anything new from Australia. It works out to almost half the price sometimes if you order gear from America, Canada or Japan (even when you add the postage cost and Aus Import duty if the item is worth more than AUD 900). I've even bought a few items new from OS, decided I didn't like them and then ended up selling them as second hand for a profit on eBay.
I went into my local guitar shop last week with prices for new guitars I'd got off of shops in America. My guitar guy who gives me great discount told me the prices I had found (including delivery) with a simple eBay search were below his cost. Distributors in Aus over-charge because they know that they still have a captive market (ie Australians usually won't buy direct from OS for some reason).
I have a step down transformer and a power strip dedicated to 110V for all my US gear...

I'm a little worried that natthu is going to kill me... but anyway... hehe
while I still dig this pedal when the gain is above 12 o'clock the abrupt change from distortion to cleanish on sustained notes is starting to annoy me.
the distortion doesn't fade out with the guitar sound but breaks off - hard to describe but that's what it sounds like.
Don't get me wrong this thing rocks my socks of it's just that I hate pedals that have settings that are not really useable. and I'd honestly could need the sound this pedal has to offer at lower gain settings but I dont like the sound when the distortion simply cuts off

Don't worry Mully, I won't be hunting you down!
I'm not really going to need it for sustained notes... and I think I know what you mean. I used to have an EHX Germanium OD which on some settings would just drop from distorted to clean abruptly. |

Off topic...
A friend of mine is slowly collecting old step-down transformers for me for when I move back! I'll need about 1,000 of them!
Also going to have to wire the whole house and workshop for 230 and 110... |

Hey Laurie, Couldn't you just mod all your gear to run on 240V? |

Hi Mully,
Hmmm, thats interesting, I think I know what your getting at but any chance of a quick sound sample?
I don't want to go dropping that much cash on a pedal that can't handle sustained notes.

just spoke to Gregor Hilden (the guy with the ES from the video) and he said that's not normal behavior.
I'll record a little clip though so you can hear it.
cheers, mully

here's a video clip of a low gain setting
http://multree.com/video/Dominator.mp4
remember though at higher gain settings you have sustain for DAYS
still I hope this low gain behavior is not normal - cuz it would be the perfect high gain pedal if this issue is solved. |

now that's just stupid....
let's say it'd be the perfect high gain pedal which can also be a very nice low gain drive |

Hmmm... well I'll let you know if mine does the same thing... it probably won't arrive for another 3 weeks though...
As long as the high gain is all sweet I'll be happy.
