i just got a stereo system off my friends dad for 50 bucks and a case of beer.
it included the casette tape deck, turntable, reciever and 2 100 watt speakers (everything is Pioneer, late 70s i think)
anyway, i was just admiring how good my old tapes sounded through the speakers, and i got the thought maybe i can plug my setup into this. so i plugged it into the "mic in" slot on my reciever and lo and behold it worked. im now using my 120 watt Kustom amp in cunjunction with 2X100 watt pioneer floor speakers...in my bedroom.[:)this thing can pump. i think the neighbours/neighbourhood will soon have a new enemy.
i couldnt picture anyone using a setup like this live since all this stuff weighs a billion freakin pounds and hauling it around wouldnt be too fun. anyone else try speakers before? |

| Be careful. It's really easy to damage stereo equipment with a dynamic signal such as live guitar. It'll sound good until it explodes. |

| Years ago I had tried this through what also happened to be a Pioneer receiver that I picked up from a pawn shop. I believe it was a '74 or '75 model, granted that only made it a little over 10 years old at the time. It didn't cause any problems with my receiver, although I didn't get a very good sound from it. It was very thin sounding, kind of fuzzy; maybe more 'fizz' than fuzz. The sound was poor enough that I didn't continue using it even though at the time I didn't have an amp (actually didn't have one for the first 3 yrs I owned my electric; this was shortly after I bought my guitar, yet I still didn't pursue trying the stereo any further) |

| Years ago I used to have a boom box with a 1/4" mic input. My guitar worked fine through it. It even had a little bit of an overdrive sound to it if you turned up the volume a little. |

Hi Strato Nice score....... I recently was given, a (rare) Sansui Valve Stereo Amplifier, with a built in tuner, the tuner is FM MONO, now that's old. Even though he was throwing it out. I felt, that I had to give my friend something in return for the nice gift. So I bought him a home handyman's multi tool setup, he just bought his first house, so i figured it was going to be useful.

Hi Ronster & Guys
No, you can still get most valves, there are a few places here in Oz, that sell valves & other parts, for old tube amps, both for guitar & also for stereo amps.
