OR: How I Convinced My Wife To Join The Band
In a few threads over the past year Ive mentioned my inability to find a (reliable) bass player. Either as an act desperation or genius, Ive been working on the idea of bringing my wife into the band. Not that shes some absolute beginner shes actually a better musician than me & works as a music teacher - its just that shes not a rocker. But over the past few months Ive introduced the idea to her, as part of my Plan B. (Plan A was keeping my old drummer, who has been busy over the summer getting married & setting up house, and his cousin on bass; Plan B was working with a new drummer here at school who has been asking me for awhile to do something; Plan AB is eh, you work it out).
Anyway, it recently became clear that the cousin was out, & my old drummer was reluctant to get to work without a bassist, so my wife received a crash course 4 songs in 5 days on an instrument she had never picked up before (even if my Mustang bass has been in the house since the day we married nine years ago). As a trained classical guitarist, she quickly got the idea of playing bass with her fingers, though she is useless with a pick.
At the very least, Ive know Ive now got someone in the band I can rely on to try their best. Better yet, I get to sleep with my bass player...
Any other happy / horror stories of playing music with your partner?

Almost similar:
my wife is the director of my musical companion: she's the boss in our home, but I'm the boss in the companion and it's a perfect misture.
She substituted the old director that leaves at two months of the debucts (not quite professional indeed) and I didn't know to have a great director inside my family until last april: she rewrote the story (adapted by the original movie), treated with actors and actress (and singers) better than me (more diplomatic and sweet than me a notorious kick-asser), helped with costumes, interviews... what a good discovered after 14 years together! |

My girlfriend and I have wrote 5 or 6 songs together...she's a great lyricist, although all of her material seems to be about mushy things like love, etc...go figure...
We've also sang a few duets together, and I did buy her a Baby Taylor for her birthday a few years ago...but unfortunately she stays too busy to do much with it. |

My wife's in the band too... originally joined to play the bass, but does keyboards & recorders as well. She's got loads more musical theory than me as well. |
