I'm using a Super Comp MXR but I'm really interested in an opnion about LM-2 or CS-2.
Are them supposed to be better and which is the top?

I have a CS-2 which works really well and I think quite alot of people seem to like them but i can't really comment on the other two. |

| FWIW, I liked using my LM-2 for bass (a rather musical, thicker sound), and I hardly ever use my CS-2. even if you are using it for guitar, the LM-2 has a tone knob, while the CS-2 does not, so the LM-2 should be more tweakable. |

I have both and hate to say this in front of all the CS2 fans, but I like the LM2 better. They both are compressors but work and sound different. Both help cover up sloppy playing too 
The comp will reduce the highs and boost the lows, while a limiter only effects the peaks controlled by the threshold setting. Also you can't really get the comp like plucking sound from a LM2, well sorta, but not as pronounced as the CS2.
Even came up with a cool three pedal setup called 'shades of blue'
LM2>EH2>CE2

Dyna-Comp is nice.. a little light on the controls, but old script ones sound juicy. I personally love the CS-2 (have 3 now.. great for the pluckiness without the swell of the CS-1) and just secured an LM-2 - so I'll have to do this comparison soon (tomorrow maybe?).
I never use them for a boost.. so I can't comment on that, but I have heard the old Dyna-Comp and CS-2 used in unison (for a highly accurate Gilmour sound - I think it's the Time solo) which was pretty incredible. Mind you.. Hiwatts, Leslies, and Cornish boxes helped a little too. |

| I can't comment on the super comp, but I did have a Dynacomp which I found to be too squishy for my taste, I like the CS-3 better, it's more controlable and subtle. |

I agree on that one. I have tryed an old Dynacomp but it was too much effect for me. The CS-2 is nearly similar but not that much. CS-3 is really clean in it´s sound, but to plonky, even CS-2 is a little too plonky. Im after a compressor who compresses a little and works as a soft sustainer but without changing the original tone and whos not make that plonky sound when hitting the strings wich is really crappy while recording. So, I have learned that the LM-2 always wins. It´s great for what I need. I have though found a setting with my CS-2 that works quite the same. Level at 1 o´clock, attack at 5 o´clock (full) and sustain at 11 o´clock.

| LM-2 is great for a subtle compression. I use one frequently for recording. It is also the type of compressor you can leave on all the time to smooth out your sound. |

Ahh sorry Christo, you might have to delete the word famous...  from that question/sentence.
Nice pedal, I use it more than my working CS-2, it's more subtle, & a lot more transparent.
Your right, it's a sleeper, waiting to be awoken.

Any chance of some internal pics of that compressor?
And does it use the LM3080 - CA3080 VCA chip, like the DynaComp, Ross & other similar pedals?

I'm on weeks vacation from work & gettin' some household things moved around. Back for a week of work then another full week off. I'll try to remember to crack her open again!
I hear the only competition to a Keeley is a Barber TonePress with blend. But I'm happy. |
