Hi guys, thanks again for the kind words! Hell, if it takes Boss pedals to push me back into photography more, then so be it!
It's great to see other people joining in too! I like the solarized look of your B&Ws, kulten. And fuzzz boxx - welcome and thanks!
Here are a few more from last night, including some of the rig itself.
For simplicity's sake, I'm using the old digital camera (with a stuck lens cover, dirty lens and all). I've diverted the flash away from the lens. My Bronica or Rolleiflex would produce a vastly superior image to 3.2 megapixels (better than 40+mp I'd say ), but this is an impatient world, and digital it is.

Here is the setup itself, against the amps. In this shot, the left flash didn't fire.. but the right one clearly has. In any event, the left soft-box is lined with aluminum foil (shiny side gets the light), and wouldn't have that glow exhibited by the right box. The right flash is sitting precariously on my Bronica pistol-grip, whose shoe-mount (made of metal) was shorting out the hot-shoe on the flash.
For our purposes here, even very small flashes will work - the softbox gives a wide source of diffused light which seems to come from everywhere. The backdrop is a piece of foam-core presentation board. They make a killer reflector, and backdrop apparently. Another option would be to curve a piece of bristol board as a seamless backdrop.
Another view of the slaved flash firing - I had to darken this a bit to make it clearer.

The soft-boxes are totally home-made. I found a template at
http://www.oseven-fotografie.nl/urbex/2008/12/17/diy-prokit-flash-modifiers-mini-softbox-including-template/
Mine are bristol board, hot-glue, gaffer tape, paper clips, foil, and parchment paper (for baking) as the diffuser (which I prefer to a more permanent material - easy to double up or more). You might be able to see the slave hanging off the left flash in the first pic (like I said, ramshackle). The right flash has a built-in slave function. It took some trial and error and would have been easier with a real manual camera and flash meter (mine needs batteries ).
And then I had some fun. Decided to strip the twins.

It was actually to take a pic of the chipped chassis.. it's the only pedal in my collection with a real physical loss.

Any my #9200 2/3 Traffic Light "set". I need a PH-1 box. I need a certain SP-1 more.

I guess that was bound to happen eventually when a tired Boss employee had been stamping serial numbers all day long. |

I don't think it's an error, if that's what you mean, nion. The 4-digit serials are replicated many times on each model. Sloppy paint, on the other hand, probably can be written off to negligence!
I do like to see the variance between two of the same serial-stamp. In this case, the "7" and first "0" sit a little higher than the other numbers - probably the same stamp. If there really were 10k produced each month, I wonder if they had only one stamp that got overworked or if multiples got inked at once. |
