Hi StratoSphere & Guys
The Ibanez CP5 Compressor (SoundTank Series, little black beetle pedal). arrived in the mail today. I won it on EvilBay about 10 days ago.
It's a nice sounding compressor, I have only played with it for about 1.5 hours, but I can defiantly say that it HEADBUTTS my Boss CS-3, yes I know it's blasphemy, but i just couldn't get the Stock CS-3 to sound good.
Diggum12, sent me some mods that he had done, but it still just didn't sound right. It seems to be common, that a lot of people just don't like the way the CS-3 Works-Sounds.
For your interest, the CP5 uses a 9 Pin - single ended BA6110 IC Voltage Controlled Amp (VCA) here is a link if anyone is interested, The data sheet has some interesting application circuits on it. http://datasheet4u.com/html/B/A/6/BA6110_Rohm.pdf.html

hey Dr. Bob. i now have 3 CE-2s. they are all made in Japan, but i cant beleive the difference in sound when all 3 are set to the same settings. im now convinced that all units do sound different from each other. theres even a difference with my Oct 83 chorus and my Nov 83 chorus.

| the CH-1 arrived today and it is absolutely mint, box/papers. it doesnt quite beat the CE-2, but i really like the sounds it has and prefer it over the CE-5 |

How does the CH-1 sound StratoSphere? I've got an EHX Small Clone already which I adore, and although you can never have too many pedals, something doing the same thing as a pedal I own already isn't top of my priorities. I've heard mixed reviews, but I want a chorus for 80's goth/indie/new wave (The Cure, Killing Joke, The Police). My Small Clone is ok for that, but it's a touch dark. Any input would be much appreciated. |

| i was always reluctant to try the CH-1 because of what other people have said about it. the CH-1 is very dark. in fact i had to put the "EQ" knob to 10 to match the brightness of the CE-2. and the CE-2 isnt even known for being bright. so the CH-1 is definately dark, but it has an excellent blend with rate and depth at noon. ive never tried the Small Clone before, so i cant compare the two. |

it's about time the CH-1 got some praise i could have bought a Ce-5, or a Ce-2 quite easily, but i chose this and it's lush, dark sound still makes me smile |

Hi Bossarea & Guys Another CE-2 that I won on EvilBay, came late today yes it's Sunday here & the postmen are working overtime.
This one is in absolutely wonderful condition But there is something a bit strange about it Seller claims it's about 15 years old & has sat in his cupboard for most of that time.
Here is the nitty gritty on this pedal, Cosmetically 9.5 plus out of 10, No manual - no box, Green label black plastic knob, Here's the strange bit, & maybe you guys can fill me in on it. The green label has a silver serial number sticker on it S/n CB90344 - Made in Taiwan
According to the secret decoder. The unit with serial number CB90344 was produced October 1990. The unit is number 30344
And the data section of the site says that: The CE-2 was sold from October 1979 to November 1982 That's a discrepancy of at least 8 years
Anyway I'm still glad I have it, it's just a little strange It doesn't looked like it was tampered with. But who knows...... Were any of the CE-2's MIT in the 90's?
Hope you guys all had or are having a great weekend. I'll tell you about my Saturday bargains in the next post.

You have probably gotten yourself one of the last CE-2s made. The last serial number I've ever seen was CC02104 which was made Nov 90. The Nov 82 date is rubbish. The pedal was made for another decade. |

Hi Bossarea & Guys
Thanks for the update & clarification. This pedal is in great shape, best non, NOS CE-2 I have ever come across, or seen so far.
I will open it up, when I get some free time & have a look at it, not to mention, trying it out.
Do you want any other info about this pedal? as you already have the, s/n, label, color & black plastic screw.
And to top it off, for Aust. prices, it was so far, the cheapest CE-2 that I have found-bought. 4 Down, and only 30,000 or 50,000 so to go....
Hope your weekend is going well. It's about 12:15am here, & I have to work tomorrow. Regards Dr Bob
