I buyed online a 1990 EH-2.
Finish is perfect, but there is something I think is a fabric problem:
The cover plate to stomp (that metal part with black rubber and input/output writing) doesn't align perfectly with the rest of the pedal.
So it looks a little "diagonal".
Is it common this kind of defect?, I never saw a Boss like this.
It's minimal, but strange anyway.
First EH-2 are better then late ones?
I'm thinking about give this away and find another...

I'd try to see if there are any cracks or problems before taking the screws out.. open the pedal (from the black thumbscrew) and look above the battery compartment. You should see the part where the treadle (that's the part with the pedal's name and rubber pad on it) is screwed to the rest of the pedal. Look for any bends or damage. A screw might have just been cross-threaded at some point.

It doesn't happen much, but they can break.. I have an old TW-1 which failed at exactly that point - I then lost the little beige chunk of aluminum which flew off..

IF your EH-2 looks to be in undamaged condition, you can try to GENTLY back those two screws out to remove the treadle.. It may be as easy as just feeding them back in properly. It may not..

Others here may have better ideas...

Good luck!

Hi spatescroll

Do you mean he entire top metal & rubber foot pad?
Or just the rubber foot pad?

Can you upload a picture to show us?

If it's the black rubber foot pad, these can be removed (carefully) & re-stuck re-glued into the proper position.

IF it's the alignment of the top metal part, it might be just that the screws that hold it in place are loose, or slightly bent.
The screws are 3mm diameter.

What i think is that the pedal has been tried to close with a battery in it that was on its small size and therefore the pedal couldn't close, when they applied pressure it bent.

I have one (can't recall what model) where the rubber pad is misaligned to the medal treadle. spatescroll's description sounds just like mine.

Looking at the glue used, I don't think there is any way to fix it other than tearing it off, cleaning the area, and gluing a new on on (assuming you can actually get a new one from Roland).

I just left mine and called it eccentric...

It's definitely not a common thing. I've seen pedals where the treadle has been misaligned because of bent screws but I haven't seen any that has come out of the factory that way.

Could it be that the printing is misaligned? Have you ingested any psychotropic substances? Is the metal actually bent? Hmmmm

It's the metal pad, not the rubber! I even changed screws but it looks like a problem with the screw holes!

Are the screws identical?
If you remove the screws, does it look like one of the holes has had work done to it?

To a closer look, it' wrong not only the metal plate (I belive holes not regular) but even the print.

Looks to me from the photo as though both the treadle and the printing on it are misaligned, and in the same direction. Note points of arrows with respect to the screws, and upper edge of treadle with respect to the label plate.
