Hello, first post here from a newb. Did a Google search and found this board.

I have an old Alesis QuadraVerb (actually two of them) and it is not booting up. While this bad boy is old and has taken its share of beatings it's always worked reliably. Well, I guess it took one (short) fall too many when it slid of the table I had it on and fell a couple/few feet.

The problem I am having is when I try to turn it on all it does is flash on the display "ALESIS QUADRAVERB Plus" and then "(C) 1989 ALESIS CORPORATION" continually flashing between these two standard boot up messages.

I opened her up, checked all connections, disconnected and reconnected a few of them, and gave her a couple of love taps and nothing. I've tried to reset to the factory settings but the unit is nonresponsive. If I hold down both PAGE buttons at the same time the meter LEDs will all flash for a second then the display will stop flashing and will show "(C) 1989 ALESIS CORPORATION". If I press and hold the two VALUE buttons it will also freeze the display at "(C) 1989 ALESIS CORPORATION" but without the flashing/momentary peaking of the LEDs.

No buttons light up when depressed, I guess because the unit's not getting through the startup boot. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot or repair? Thanks in advance!

Well, upon more searching on the web I fixed the problem. However, I guess what I did reset the unit as I lost all of my custom programs and settings.

The fix, or reset, was to hold down bypass and program at the same time and then power up the unit. It reset everything and now functions as it did new. Now I need to whip out the manual and re-figure out how to program a loop which enables me to switch back and forth (through a pedal hooked up to the advance jack) between a couple of the programs I created (which are now lost and need to be recreated as well).

Thanks!

OK it's fixed, but if it's old and you haven't done so already, change the memory battery inside. It may stop future problems (not necessarily this one).

Welcome to the forum....... + 1 on Mr Arkadins suggestion on the battery,as if i remember correctly from a similar unit i had back in the early 90's(digitech GSP 21) changing it later or it dying will wipe any saved programs, might as well do it now as you had to reset the quadraverb anyway.....

Thanks fellas! Yes, as mentioned, it's now fixed, but all old programs and settings were lost. I will look into the battery replacement, though, because I do have two QV's... even though I don't really use either of them much. Thanks for the suggestion!

Being new to the site I don't know how newbs are initiated, so I guess to play it safe... a round a brews on me .
