Always the best way to get your mitts on a vintage valve amp.. never got one for nothing but i only payed £100 each for the 70's marshall and the '61 selmer and £350 for the musicman combo so i did ok through the years.... the old Akai valve reel to reel (which is mint was sav and makes not a bad little amp...)was saved from a building about to be demolished...i'm really happy you got these bad boys back up and running jake..i think you will find that sometimes hauling them around won't be fun but you will find it hard to live without the sound....personally(and i don't mean to offend anyone) i think that single channel valve heads like your Eminars sound the best..these two with a stereo pedal at the end of the board would sound amazing...i assume it the footswitch build in the other thread is for the tremolo on/off...?.... |

Well everyone, today i picked up the Marshall cab i have been speaking of. Its a JCM 900 - Lead 1960. Now, i dont know much about cabs, but it said on the back made in england. From memory i knew that they dont make them there anymore. But i snapped it up took it home. And it sounds freakin awesome with my Eminar 50 watt head. I figure the cab might be from late 80s/early 90s? As you can see from the pics, shes been road worn. But it doesent matter to me. Theres a serial number on the cab, is there anyway to date them? I just thought id share my excitment with everyone
Note: The RV-3, Beer bottle, and storm troopers. The marshall footswitch is one ive borrowed (for the tremolo) untill ive finished making my own.

Whenever i get some time, i will try and do a nice vid clip for everyone Cheers!

Just found this:
1990: The introduction of the JCM900 amps.
"These 1960 style cabinets were fitted with four Celestion G12T-75 speakers."

those are nice cabs..... the most popular cabs ever I guess....
the speakers have a nice mid-scoop that's not overly excessive but still gives a modern sound to these cabs.
Had to sell mine due to money problems though.... good thing is you still get enough money for them due to them being so popular |

| oh and since you're only using one half anyway - try taking one of the other side's speakers out and screw the backplate on again.... it's a nice trick for closed back speakers.... |

Thanks mate. This is a noob question. But could I run another cable from my RV-3 (or RE-20 or DC-2) into the right side input? I didn't realise sound was only coming from the left...
Also, would it have to be a speaker cable like the one I got for the other side? (Its a planet waves 10ft speaker cable, the tips are 24k karat gold)
Cheers |

Do you mean to run a cord from the RV-3 into the cabinet or the amp?
You can't run a speaker from the RV-3 or any other pedal for that matter, you need a power amp to drive it.
You should put your cabinet on MONO if you want all 4 speakers to sound. And use either the 4 ohm (left) or 16 ohm (right) input depending on what your amp is set to. |

I love it when people put geeky things with their gear, it's the only way to get away with it. I have a Weyland-Yutani Corp logo on my pedalboard (from the aliens series) and the bassist of one of my favourite bands, Ash, has a Deception (I think :/) logo from transformers on his bass.

Hopefully you will get the other Eminar valve head up and running and and run them in stereo into this cab...split the outputs off the RV-3 into the two amps and then into the cab set for stereo...or what i like is a nice stereo chorus or delay for a mega stereo spread.... ...nice cab BTW.... ..... |

Thanks for the info guys!
I've been playing with this thing and I absolutley love it. Its so freaking loud. I haven't even pushed it past 3 because it hurts my ears.
I've been testing different pedals in it also.
Can't wait to have a jam with this beast! If you ever come across an eminar head, don't hesitate to buy it. |
