I managed to pick up an analogue CE-5 last weekend for $50.
I'm really happy with my CE-2, but if I was on a limited budget, I would pick a CE-5 (being careful to ensure it was analogue!)

well, I ended up with an analog CH-1 for $60
and I have to say - I love it.
one attraction for me was the EQ knob, which I thought would give me more options with it, and sure enough it does. for our mellower songs where I want it more subtle I put the EQ at about 12, when over distortion I have the EQ at about 3 so it cuts through nice and sharp.
another attraction as it was used by and a favourite of Miki from Lush, one of my favourite early 90s bands ;)
the Rate and Depth are pretty much constant at around 2 or 3, might change once I crank up the volume at rehearsal, as low volume playing is a bit hard for me to hear ;)
I just have to get a new cover for the Level knob, and give it a bit of a dust off, but otherwise it's in good condition
this is the seller's photo...

Franz,
I am new to thicking up choruses with the BF-2. Once you have done that you do not like the sound of any chorus on its own anymore.
I used the CE-1 for a little while a few days ago, thought is sounded lush and full, then coupled it with a BF-2, and it even sounded better. Okay a little noiser as well, as the flanger just adds some noise.
Even if you do not have a dedicated chorus pedal, the combination of two flangers will still give you a nice, great chorus sound.
Makes one wonder why we stil would like such a large collection of choruses. |

Thats the problem..once you do it never sounds the same again... ...
Visserman.....i normally set the rate and depth settings the same on both units..i have found that the BF-2 works best for me with the CE-2 ..it didn't 'sit as well with the CH-1 even though mine is the older analogue one that why i stopped using it..it was christo who mentioned a mod for the BF-2 to get it more CE-2 that got me thinking again...glad to hear it worked well for you with the CE-1..your a lucky guy to have an original CE-1.... ...i think of the two pedals mixed as like prince's intro sound on 'purple rain' the big thick 80's chorusy sound,we were covering this song and thats part of the reason as well that i revisited the BF-2... |

Yep, I never had tried the BF-2 trick using it as a chorus. Read about you doing this, and probably some others as well.
When I tried it at first I still did get the flanging, then when I turned down the Manual and Resonance knob I started to get the chorus sound. Even using the BF-2 on its own for this sound is great. Its chorus is subtle, more of a DC-2 type, not as thick as a CE-2.
Lucky with the CE-1? maybe, I read that one went for over £500,- about two weeks ago. Well that is a lot of money.
Bought mine for a lot less, but still for quite a lot, and only bought it because I wanted to know about its sound. Do use the compacts more, but then I know it is there so I can always try it.
There is a DOD which is great as well, I think you mentioned that one before as well. Forgotten the type, I will check. But this one is really great, even more flexable than the CE-1. All the sounds are in it, no stereo outputs, but you can solve that with an Y-box or another Bosspedal with two outputs.
With your band, do they really for duplicating all the sounds of the originals?
I tend to rearrange songs a lot, find I can be more creative with that approach. Also go for somewhat unusual line-up of instruments, and mainly out of practical reasons rather than being different. |

You can get a great chorus out of a HF-2 Hi Band Flanger, same settings as the bf2, but heavy on the delay knob, its alot slower than the regular flanger, plus its an octave up |
