I've been kind of looking at one of these for a while, because I think it would be fun to have when I play showegaze-y, My Bloody Valentine stuff. But I really have no specific idea of how I'd use it...flutter-y stuff, harmonies, whacked dive bomby stuff...right now, I just see myself exploring the thing and seeing what it can do.
So tell me, all you PS-5 mavens, how do you use yours? |

| I use it for the intelligent pitch shifting, "harmonizer" mostly. But I'll also set it for the de-tuned setting to get a double guitar effect. |

Yes, the detuned effekt is also what I like the most. This is a pedal that I seldom use, but its fun to play around with. Never use it while playing with others. |

I use it for 3 songs so far with my band: one on the detune mode, one on the divebomb setting -1 octave, and one on the harmonizer + 1 or 2 octave depending on on my mood....
I really want to get an expression pedal so that i can have some more fun with it... |

I like to use mine mainly for a 12 string effect on my clean chain. I also like the dive down & up mode. Detune is a big winner as well. A really versatile &/or horrible pedal. Tweak tweak. |

i thought i would be better posting my question here than starting a new thread....
i posted in the off topic section about rack harmonizers but would the PS-5 or the HR-2 be good enough for thin lizzy/early steely dan type guitar harmonys....?? which has the best tracking and most convincing sound...?? ialso noticed digitech have brought out a new twin harmoniser pedal but you have to put your overdrive/distortion in a loop on the pedal and the other pedals in the normal input, where would this leave the order of the rest of my pedals..i.e would the overdrive end up after the mod/delay etc..?...as the digitech and the boss pedals have stereo outs can you put them at the end and out to two amps as from what i've been reading some of these intelleigent pitch shifters don't like being fed a distorted signal or is that only for chords..?...i plan on using it mainly for 'reelin' in the years/boys are back in town.....etc.... harmony lines.... |

With my SG I use the T-arm mode at 1 octave higher/ or lower. With my strat, Flutter & Detune for guitar harmonies I overdub ( BR900 ) I don't use it at any gigs I do. |

| Hey Franz, I use mine after distortion and it sounds fine and tracks well. But I use it for solos where I'm only useing one note in the Harmonizer mode, even pre-distortion the Harmonizer setting can only handle one note. The Detuned mode can handle distorted chords. |

thanks darrin...when you say one note ..do you mean one key..?...also have you tried it with an expression pedal...? can you get the digitech whammy type pitching shifting like gilmour or satriani with it..??.....i saw/heard a guy demoing it on you tube and it sounded very good for harmonys and he was playing pretty fast and it still seemed to be able to keep up...joe walsh uses on live with the eagles so it must be pretty ok.... this would fit my pedalboard best,i plan putting it where i used to put my CH-1,at the end and split to stereo with it... i would be using it fo live work so i could live with a slight issue of sound quality.... |

Okay, up front, I don't. However, with my HR-2, PS-2's and PS-3 I used to get a pretty wicked Brian May - God Save The Queen. The HR-2 is a pain but it has that " organic graininess " I quite like. |

this is exactly the type of feedback i'm looking for.... like i said i don't mind a bit of 'graininess' as it's for live use and probably only for about 3/4 songs, basically it's once it can track the notes,i notice the PS-5 gets some neg reviews is it really that bad..??.... cheers racer X..... |

Chords due tend to muddy things a bit. I have never had a problem feeding the HR-2 a distorted signal. The big problem I have found is how much NOISE you are slamming it with. Seems a bit glitchy or slow to respond. Distortion that is at unity gain with the signal is how I have used it. |
