Hi Guys
I thought about putting this into the technical section, but I meant it to be more of a general statement-question. And to see how the topic would develop.

| I got my MT-2s modded by Keeley because the sound clips on the website are sick! I got one modded, then after having it for awhile, I got another modded because it makes the MT-2 sound so much better than its stock version because the EQ seems to be more useable, yet there is more crunch yet more clarity at the same time... |

I got my mt-2 modded by keeley for the same reason I'm still curious how the 'diesel' modded mt-2 from 'indyguitarist sounds in real life, cause the sample sounds great. |

I did the Monte Allums SD -808 plus mod on my SD-1 cause I like the sound better after the mod. Having this said, I also did Monty's opto plus mod on my CS-3, but that doesn't quite cut it for me. It's stated that the noise goes way down, in fact mine became even noisier. And the gain went up a little, it's like playing with an overdrive instead of a compressor. So I undid some of the mods and ended up liking it better.

This thread could help me choose between a Keeley Mooded MT-2 and a Keeley Modded DS-1 as im dire need of a good distortion pedal.
I did have a MT-2 and traded it, and currently have a DS-1 and hate it, so i dont know what would be for me. |

I have 2 Keeley modded MT-2s, and 1 Keeley modded DS-1. The DS-1 is fun to play with, but I never keep it plugged in for long as I usually end back with the MT-2 or one of the various fuzzes I have around. The DS-1 seems good, but I just cannot find a setting or use for it personally, though I bust it out every couple of months... |

I mod my Boss pedals because... It's amazing what a few capacitors, resistors, and diodes can do. There are so many ways you can go with them too! You can find what you're looking for in almost any of the pedals. But only do the newer abundant Tawiwan issues. I have always kept the original parts and there locations on a card in case I ever want to put it back to stock or sell it. Plus, it's just fun. |

Im not modding my Boss pedals, but I have owned and tried a few modded by pros. As primarily a collector I prefer them stock, but as I also play a lot I also love the ones that are modded, Stinkfoot DS-1 comes to mind. I would like to mod Boss pedals, but only non-collectible ones, as I have done some serious modding to an Epiphone Valve Junior with great results. This was a lot of fun

They're my pedals and I can!! Really, some of the cheap and easy to get pedals sound much better to me when I get to play with my soldering iron and change stuff around. Plus I can't leave stuff stock for more than 2 seconds.
Boss Forever !! |

I do the same with guitars, must tweak and make them play better. Thats the fun of buying new guitars... |

I modded my stock CS-3 to monte allum's opto plus mod and i have been happy with it since then. before the mod, my cs-3's main use was more of a boost pedal (due to poor pickups my guitar has before) to the point that i stored it away like for a decade.the mod made the pedal more usable now and i highly recommend it....

Personally I am not preferring any mod due to my respect to OEMs (original equipment manufacturer). I guess they had spent many time and money to develop these 'sounds' and I guess these are best as they have designed and built up originally. I know, many of famous modder are around the world and the outcome of their mods can be even better than the original one but anyway, I will not moy any boss pedals but if necessary repair them based on the original design.
cheers |

...it's cool to have a blue led light up on my board at a gig when a standard red led is expected. Always a talking point for those who are interested and in the know - very stylish too
...and, it's like having a new type of pedal based on a design that's already successful. I'll buy modded pedals but I always try to make sure I've got the original too (mine are all Keeley: BD-2, SD-1[5-Star] and DS-1 [Ultra mod])
PS: I've never tried to mod a pedal myself as I have very limited electronics knowledge and wouldn't want to be responsible for destroying one!

Hi dfx
Is this mod really that good?
Have you compared it with a working CS-2? If so how does it compare/
It took me about 11 months before I found a setting I liked on the CS-3, mine is one of the older ACA 12V pedals.
