Does anyone here has a diagram or a link on how to do the DD-3 Hi-cut mods? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Place a small value capacitor (.047 uF) on the outer lugs of the pot marked "effect level".

As I understand it (havn't tried yet):

One across the legs of the "Level" pot and one across the legs of the "Feedback" pot.

Modification on only one of the pots will only change one aspect of the sound as I understand it. (Get the first echo darker + Progressively darker sound.)

So if I understand it correctly this mod will make it sound more like an analog delay rather than a digital delay right?

Yes, it will produce a simulation of analog delay.

I've done this mod several times. You place one leg of the capacitor on each of the outside lugs on the "effect level" pot, not one leg on one pot and the other leg on another pot.

Each repeat of the delay will get slightly darker (The effect is called "ducking"), similar to an anolog delay.

No problem. This is one of the easiest mods you can do, but be careful and have fun.

Hello,
Don't mean to dig up an old thread, but I thought I'd throw in another version. This one gives you three sounds,Stock, warm, and warmer. It's a fairly easy mod, except it's tight quarters inside the pedal.A toggle switch is added to switch the 3 sounds.

Connect the middle legs of the switch to the outer legs of the Feedback pot with wire.Connect the caps to each side of the switch. So in middle pos.it's stock, flip it to 0.1 for warm, flip it to 0.47 for warmer.
I actually misread this when I first did the mod,and used a .047,and so I had to dive back in and exchange the caps. The .47 is my favorite mode now,FWIW. The .047 only had a slight bit of warmth added.IMO

Here's what it look's like finished:

If you don't want to deface your pedal, then go with boss freak's style and put the cap on the outer legs of the FB pot,but feel free to try a few different values of capacitors.I like a selection and I got my DD-3 cheap with intentions of this mod from the get go.
Have fun,
G.H.

Hey Gearhunter! Where did you get that switch? You wouldn't believe how tough it's been for me to find one of those. I'm guessing it's a On/On DPDT.

Hey Diggum12, the Parts Store at Build Your Own Clone has some switches for sale, are these what you are looking for?

http://buildyourownclone.com/store.html

And I'm sure Keith who is very helpful over there can let you know if its the on/on/on you are looking for....

Has anyone tried this out with a DD-5?
I know analogman does a DD-2/3/5/6 hi-cut mod, so this has to work... right?

Yes, I think you're still safe with a dd-5. I've read a couple places (I think Stinkfoot is one of them) that don't touch dd-6's.

Awesome. The Hi-Cut mod, with the expression pedal mod (and not to mention the sweet stock tap tempo) will make the DD-5 absolutely irreplaceable.

So does anyone have a schematic for the expression pedal mod?

That might be what you're looking for, if not it's still a great read.
