Just wondering if any of you UK ebayers have noticed the same trend as I have.
Over the past couple of months or so a number of new sellers have appeared who regularly sell Boss pedals with BIN only and at fairly consistent prices - usually higher than what they would go for in a regular auction. Part of me is thinking that this commercial selling / shop type behaviour is what is starting to drive prices up.
I also wonder just where the supply of Boss pedals is coming from? Is it through good connections to Japan maybe (where they pick them up cheap and ship them back to the UK), sweeping up and buying in auctions under a different ebay ID, or, from somewhere else? I just don't know.
In some ways it's great to have easy access to the pedals that I want but not so good in that it's certain that I'm going to have to pay a premium / mark-up for definite, as there's not the randomness of a regular ebay auction.
I suspect they are buying under different id's and selling on with a mark-up. I've been outbid a number of times recently and find identical models popping up a few days later. I've given up on ebay for boss products
It does happen i have noticed that with a few pedals. I have driven the price up on a few pedals,I have bought them really cheap and sold them with a good profit. and a bunch of other people followed
I've noticed the same thing. The BIN price is often twice or 3 times the price these pedals normally go for. Lately I've started pressing the "Auctions only" button as soon as I enter Ebay.
If the prices aren't too high, I usually will purchase something on the BIN auction over the other type of auction because I'm so sick and tired of sellers having their friends outbid me to make the prices higher in their attempt to get me to put in more higher bids.
Also when I sell stuff on ebay, I usually will set it up on a BIN auction only because if you don't, sometimes only one person will put in a bid and it will be really low and then they win the item and I get only a fraction of what I was hoping to get selling it.
BIN is just an easier way to do things on ebay in my opinion anyways.

That's probably not the best policy... I've gotten a couple of awesome bargains because the seller has put a ridiculously low BIN and I just happened to be the first to notice... Although I do understand and share your frustration at the trend of artificially upping prices...
Hi Guys The key thing here is not to get greedy. I think the buy it now option works great so long as you are being realistic about what you want for your pedal. If you are daft enough to put it on for a silly low price then it will of course sell very quickly and you will loose out. I think starting your auction low and and setting your buy it now at a slightly higher yet still reasonable and realistic amount that you would be happy with gives buyers 2 options which generates more interest as they will watch it to see what unfolds and when it starts to creep up someone will hit that but it now button and everyone is happy. It seems to work for me anyway. Kind regards Neala
