Super-brights are probably the best way to go. If you are opening them up to change the resistor... maybe change the LED instead
If the resistor is your preference, give us a list of the pedals and we can help (at least for those pedals that we can find schematics for). |

Hi gmreszel !
I had the same problem with my CS-3's led. What I did is replace the led with a super bright blue led and a 270 Ohm resistance on the anode. The plastic O ring that supports the led won't fit anymore, not really a problem but note what the height is for that led and you should be OK.
Hope this helps...

Apart from putting clear brights in, how can I find the the proper R location for each of my pedals so I can change to value for brighter,,,it's not the same location for all pedals is it (R35)? I have a lot of outdoor gigs this summer and I need the leds to be able to compete with the sun.
Hi gmreszel Simple & really quick Temp. fix just before, or during the gig. No soldering required.
Fold a small Postit Note and stick it to front of the pedal With the fold facing towards the LED & slightly above it.
Basically it's a quick/poor-mans sun shield.
It's better to use a darker coloured Postit notes, like Blue, rather than Yellow.
Plus you'll have the Postit notes, to give out your number to the fairer sex.

I'm still going to make my leds brighter Dr. but I'm going to do the Postit idea too. |

Hi gmreszel
I meant this as just a temp. quick fix, until you have the time & components to replace the LED's.
I did this once for a muso mate at an outdoor concert. it was the best I could think of in the 30 seconds, before they kicked off.

Super brights and a resistor change is the way I'd like to experiment. A couple years back I did Allums BD-2 H2O mod and he includes a super bright plus he changes the LED R value to make it 'like a flashlight' he says and I have to say, for my middle of the day festival gigs that's what I need. Plus the fact my eyesight isn't so good when I don't have the time to put in the contacts. That's what happened Friday and it was a disaster. I would also like to Super Bright all the leds in the TU-2 - has anyone done this?
Here's my boxes: TU-2, CS-3, CE-2, SD-1, DS-1, BD-2, DD-6, RV-5
Here's some pics of my board (plus kitty wanted to get involved):

Well, I think it's a pretty clever idea! |

i think you would find that the superbrites will be all you need to do , most of the modded pedals i do for guys all get a new LED , and they love the look of the 3mm SB !!
good looking pedal board !! |
