After our very first gig ever, we were breaking down our rigs. I had put my bass in my gigbag next to the drumkit and was unplugging my amp when I saw some drunk litteraly walk over it with his big muddy shoes. Luckily my bass wasn't harmed, but my gigbag had a nasty footprint on it for the next couple of months. Lesson learned, I bought a solid hardshell case which even fell out of a van years later, yet again the bass was intact.
