My 590 arrived today.. er that is my 490. I ordered the 590. Peterson stuck the 490 in a 590 box so it wasn't Sweetwater's fault Anyway, I'll play with the lesser unit until they rectify the problem. I love analog equipment & besides my speakers & mics (heh ), I've got a tube amp (finally), Moog synth & pedals, maybe an old school CV sequencer on the way & now a strobo tuner! Ok, the design was advanced to solid state with the Model 300 in 1966. Today's Peterson tuners have 0.1 of a cent (or 1/1000 of a semitone) accuracy. I've always wanted one. It tracks beautifully. When they replace the 490 with the 590, I'll have a built-in metronome & tone generator. I can use this for voice training as well!

So I was playing around in the 1st 5 minutes with it & got the idea to test my Schecter's intonation by fretting at the 12th & comparing it to the harmonic. Its pretty damned close. I mention this because although I realize the lesser accuracy of the Boss TU-2, it is in fact fairly accurate itself, especially in streaming mode.
Anyway, here's a link to a great intonation document I have: http://gamefreaks.net/defrag/carbon_pi/files/intonation.doc
And here's a link to an interesting history: http://www.bottleorgan.com/index.cfm?category=26&page=1
