Nice lineup. I've always wanted to go to Floydfest but have not found a way to get there.
Grace Potter is a pretty good blues singer/player from the Boston area, roughly in the Janis Joplin genre (not that accurate but close enough to get an idea).
Railroad Earth is a bluegrass / rock fusion band that formed a few years ago from the remnants of a NJ band called From Good Homes. I like these guys.
Peter Rowan is a famous cowboy / bluegrass singer and player. We was associated with the New Riders of the Purple Sage and played in Old in and the Way, among others. I believe he played with Bill Monroe to start his career
Donna the Buffalo is something of a jam band. I have not listened to a DTB bootleg in a while and kind of forget the specifics.
I don't know Toubab Krewe. A name like that implies African / Calypso sounds though. |

Thx everyone.
This is supposed to be a 1st class fest, I have heard nothing but great things from our friends that have played and attended.
I'll post a recap if there is anything interesting to talk about. |

Floyd is just outside the Galax/Hillsville area, right?
I hadn't heard anything about it...I'm just down the road in Winston-Salem and may have to make a road trip... |

I'm an Atlanta boy (well a NYC boy now in Atlanta) silvertone6120 so I don't really know all that well.
But google maps is my friend and she says that Galax is about 40 miles SW of Floyd.
Like I said this is supposed to be pretty great fest so if any of the bands spark your interest, it might be worth your time.
If you have wee ones apprently there is a whole section for them. If we get asked again I'll be bringing my (then) 3 year old along.
