looking back kinda makes me wonder where the music industry has gone
Here here' those are classics, I hate Nirvana, but In Utero and Bleach are pretty good albums. |

I remember my first hendrix album, I was walking through the mall opening it up, poped it into my diskman (back in the day ), and was instantly blown away. It was one of the best moments of my life for sure. |

The first album that was given to me (around the age of 4) was Disco Duck...
The first 45-single I bought was Nena 99 Luftballons...
I cannot remember the first album I bought...
The first cassette given to me was Chipmunk Punk...
The first cassette I bought was Ozzy Osbourne/Randy Rhoads Tribute...
The first CD I ever got was Stevie Ray Vaughn's IN STEP which I won from a radio station by calling in with the name of the new Whitesnake album (Slip of the Tongue)...
The first CD I bought was the self-titled Social Distortion album...
I went way back....before Tribute, I wasn't playing guitar...hence some of the kiddy, pop stuff... |

| Mine was Green Day - Dookie on Cassette. Shame about the band, I'm not staying they were ever really great, but I sure used to think so. Shortly followed by Nirvana, Candlebox, all the grunge favorites. |

A 'Top of the Pops' compilation album, older UK members might remember them, they contained cover versions of current chart music, and the cover always featured a scantily clad female. I remember the one I bought had a cover of 'Lucky Number' by Lene Lovich.
First 'real band' album purchase would have been 'Regatta de Blanc' by The Police in 1979. I bought 'Kings of the Wild Frontier' by Adam & the Ants around the same time.

we have one of those covers pinned to the wall of the shed where we rehearse... we found it one day when we were cleaning it out,its top of the pops (i think 1974) and has a very good looking blonde in a little red dress on the front...it belonged to one of the drummers brothers ....just don't make 'em like that anymore... .... |

the first two albums I bought myself, with 'my' (allowance?) $, were:
AC/DC - For those about to rock Joan Jett - I love rock 'n roll
both were bought on cassette, at the same time (I think FTATR had just come out), at Peaches' Records and Tapes (a then-active US chain)
curiously, I never bought anything else by Joan Jett (did see her live about 7-8 years ago, though - recommended), and I didn't buy my own copy of AC/DC's 'Back in black' until about 5 years ago....

I joined one of those record clubs, where you got five records for free if you promised to buy every month, a record, that you didn't want, for eternity. The five "free" records that I chose from the list were: Buddy Holly Led Zepplin 2 Don Mclean - American pie Frank Zappa - 200 motels Buffy St.Marie - Moonshot I could have had six eight track tapes but I didn't have a player. |

I don't remember the first album... maybe something of KISS or Battisti or something else hard/heavy, but I remember the first album bought with my own money: Lucio Battisti "Io tu noi tutti", 1977

Probably Innuendo (Queen). That was... woah, something like 12 years ago...
Funny enough, The latest vinyl I got is Flash Gordon, by the same band. And I'm waiting for Hot Space.
No, I'm not an absolute fan... |
