Just received one I won on ebay a while back. Attack is pretty aggressive and not adjustable. Get a small peak on the pluck then the compression kicks in. Sustain exists, but is nowhere in the league of the 2 or 3. Is this what you have experienced with yours?
Just about the same, CS-1 really sound like a compressor at all settings above zero. Nice as an effect, but to use it as a transparent compressor, well
I found both of mine to be about the same.. very weird for a compressor, but useful as a funky effect. The mega-squishiness sounds great with my strat's glassy-ass pickups.
The CS-2 is much more useable.. but a little less fun.
I guess I have a thing for optical pedals with switches!
I have moments where I feel the pedal is doing something which it should not do. Seems to behave differently on different days, but this could be a psychological thing, as I tend to play for long times in a row and your ears get tired and your mind start to hear things which may not be there as well.
Overal it is nice on cleansounding guitars. Experiment with humbuck/singlecoil gtrs.
I do like its clicky sound, but yep, that is more a particular effect rather than a transparent sound coming from a compressor.
