I've recently re-added my BF-2 to my board...works great stacked with the CE-2 for a real thick, slightly swooshy chorusy sound.... |

Great revival of an old thread.. I think it includes my first post!?!
A guy @ my work tried an HF-2 with his Lifeson model Gibson - it nailed the "Spirit of Radio" sound.. I think it's the most usable flanger for many people, but the BF-2 will definitely put more modulation forward. I'm also still pretty partial to the BF-2B for guitar.
I have important school admin stuff to do, but I want to try splitting a guitar signal into direct, +1 octave and -1 octave, each going to its own Boss Flanger (HF-2, BF-2, BF-2B, to its own amp (the OC-2 goes to a bass amp, the PS-2 goes to two amps, one from the Tuner Out).. too bad the octave sound on the PS-2 isn't so nice..

I use a HF2, and have it on (along with a Chorus & delay) with virtually everything.
If you want some samples. This is a video I did of the DD20. The swirl effect you can here is mostly the HF2, and a bit of the CE5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-ouzSBxBVE
For recorded music. Go to my band's website... http://www.thesoj.co.uk/music.htm The track Playing With Fire makes major use of the HF2. The oscilating siren noise just after the start (and throughout the track) is the HF2 self-oscilating... with the right settings (and some delay) it turned out to be very usable.
The tracks Year And A Day and Reality have the HF2, CE20, and DD20 all on throughout all the guitar parts.
The tracks Confusion and Boy Next Door have the HF2 and CE5 on the lead parts.
That should give you some idea of sound. |

I have only a Boss BF-2 Flanger (Taiwan, pink label). Very nice Flanger. I don't use it alot but when i'm using this one, i sounds really sweet. From subtile sounds till very heavy flanging tones like a F16 or F14 jetfighters :D
I have also a Ibanez DFL Flanger. O god, this one i really sweet! When you see anyone for sale, pelase buy it! You really like it i think ;) I use this pedal for Rage Against The Machine songs. Ofcourse i will say, Tom use also a DFL Flanger. ;)

Yeah got a Boss BF-3 Flanger. Bought it a couple of days back. Souds also really great! On the standaard mode, it sounds like the BF-2, not really heavy but on the extreme mode, holy! Extreem but nice. And i love the Pan/Gate mode. But nothing beats the good old HF-2 |

Does anyone have any good samples of settings and on records etc so that I can hear what the effect can do? I have chorus and a rotovibe and a phaser, so i really dont use it. It feels bad, cause i like the unit, but i doesnt do anything that the other modulation pedals do, its a little same same but different. Im really confused here...
try listening to some of Paul Gilberts stuff that he uses flanger on (although he uses his signature pedal from Ibanez..it is still a flanger and he utilizez it in a cool way) |

here's a great demo of the bf-1

the pedal sounds good, and it oscillates (COOL) |

i love my bf-2
i use it as my main chorus (it replaced my DC-3 2 weeks ago), it can mimic Andy Summers' sound though he uses the EHX Electric Mistress. |
