Thank you very much! By the way, we also have the blue flower tele, strat and bass, so we always have to make sure to bring the correct combination to the next gig It first started with my blue flower strat (maybe some day i'll manage to get you pics) which I bought used 15 years ago, and then later the GAS got a bit out of control The guitars were Made in Japan ca. 1984-1987, the first Japanese reissues of the paisley and blue flower guitars are simply gorgeous!!! The basses are about 5 years old, I believe. The guitars are all original, the basses received Harry Hussel pickups (German Boutique pickup winder). |

Well, I've never been much of an Elvis fan but the guy was a seriously cool character... Great clip, loads of unusual stuff happening in there!

Ha! What an awesome collection! I love it
In what way do the Harry Hussel pickups improve/change the bass' sound?

Well, the original Fender PU's from the 2000's are not too decent, at least this is what my bass player thinks. Before the blue flower and paisley bass he played an end 60ies or early 70ies Fender Tele bass, with the huge humbucker and an additional single coil like in the first Tele basses. So the new Japanese basses were a bit thin sounding, and the Hussel PU does take care for that being much more beefy and with more low end. The PUs were actually built to order because my bandmate works at a guitar shop and therefore had direct contact with Mr. Hussel several times before. See his site at http://www.haeussel.com/ |

Thanks! I have a MIM fretless Fender J Bass I'm thinking of turning into a modding project. My Am Std J Bass has a much better tone. I'd like to get a more beefy sound from the fretless so I'll have to check those PU's out... |

I have a 2000 Fender usa Precision bass, and the first thing I swapped out right after I bought it was the pickup. It just couldn't match the awesome tone of the Seymour duncan pickup I had in my old bass. I found it somewhat flat, and characterless whereas I really love the sound of 60's and 70's P-basses on old recordings. Listen to the 1973 "Never turn your back on a friend" album by Budgie, and you'll hear exactly what I mean. |

yes, that's a Tokai Love Rock NLS80 PR, Made in Japan 2002. Rumours go that only 10 or 20 of these were made. It was not easy to find such a beauty, but my paisley addiction started way before that model came out, and when I read about the Tokai Paisley Love Rocks I couldn't rest until I got one . I found it on eBay UK. Unfortunately there's also a Tokai Paisley SG model so I'm not finished yet. Not to mention the old 80ies Tokai Teles and Strats in Paisley... |
