Hi - I tried the search function but it isn't working for me.
Just wondering what you folks think of the Blues Driver? |

The result what you can hear is belongs to the amplifier where signal goes through after BD-2. It is valid not oly for BD-2 but for others as well! On my Laney Klipp has a total different tone as on my Fender amp. For my ear the sound on Laney head a bit better. cheers |

For me, my opinion of the BD-2 depends on the guitar I'm playing through it. I agree with happyplucker that it can sound a little bit harsh. I use it to try to get a smooth, mild break up and have always found trouble finding the sweet spot. Between my three guitars (a strat with Lace Golds, a Tele w/ EMG's, and a Robert Cray strat with Duncan Lil' 59 and JB Jr.) I'm constantly having to readjust the settings in search of the ideal tone.
All that being said, I just pickup a new guitar with DiMarzio EJ Customs installed and it's like I'm really hearing the BD-2 (and my DS-1) for the first time. The pedal sounds exactly like I was always hoping for when I first got it. Either with full humbucker or the pups split, the BD-2 sounds great - like a vintage tube amp breaking up.
I think the long and the short of it is that the BD-2 is a very dynamic pedal that responds to a combination of pups, amp, and playing technique. I think you can find the tone you're looking for if you spend the time searching for it.
Just my $.02, your mileage may vary. |

I like the BD-2 and have had several of them. Although, mostly all modified ones. I liked most of them, including Keeley and Analogman mods. For Blues my favorite one being with the (indyguitarist) "Tweed" mod in it. I added a little gain to that mod (just for my taste) (IMO)It sounds the way a Blues pedal should have in the first place. Very inexpensive mod and amazing difference. Sounds great with my Gibsons' and my Strat. Sounds like a Vintage Amp with the right amount of warm overdrive for the "Blues Tone" it was supposed to have. That's my opinion, for what it's worth. |

The OD-3 is the ULTIMATE overdrive pedal. But it still didn't have enough grit to it so I bought the BD-2.
The BD-2 is a bit more noisy than the OD-3 even though people claim its transparent. All said though, the BD-2 is probably one of the best of its type. I love it & will never part ways. I think I'd get rid of the OD-3 before the BD-2.
I'd like to hear from others what pedals sound similar or is a better match for blues music though. |

| I have the Keeley Phat mod BD-2 and the mod adds some low end. The stock to me was either harsh or off. The mod adds balance and reduces the noise. Great pedal. |

| I have a BD-2 that I am happy with. I use it mostly for clean boost. I have not had noise problems or "harsh" problems like some of the other posters. It is a "bright" pedal but I would not go so far as to say "harsh". I have a humbucker guitar and it sounds like the people here who like the BD-2 least are using single coil - maybe that is the biggest issue. |

Stock: great, but keep the tone control down. Stinkfoot modded: greater,I like it a lot. Analog Man modded: greater, all the harshness is gone. |

Hi Goran & Guys
At the risk of upsetting some people. Which is you [go-to] favorite Modded pedal?
I'm asking because I don't yet have a BD-2 Only the COSM emulations in my GT-3, & they sound pretty good.
Regards Dr. Bob |

Well, its a bit hard for me to say a modded favourite as I didnt have both Stinkfoot and Analog Man at the same time. From memory I think the Stinkfoot one had a sound I like the most, and I think Stinkfoot is of the Keeley-school on this pedal. But, dont forget, BD-2 is a great pedal un-modded!

I really like my BD-2. I think it makes a huge difference when playing with humbuckers instead of singles.
I would love to hear move modded samples as everyone loves modded BD-2s. Mine is still stock (for now)! |
