I got a bunch of pedals those days.
Some Dod : FX70 Flanger, FX30-B Noise Gate/Loop, FX80-B Compressor. Nothing wonderful, dod allright. The Flanger is simple, just 2 knobs, it's plug and play, which is kinda mind relaxing. I also got a early Fet Preamp.
A killer Digitech unit : the PDS 1550 Programmable Distortion. Probably not the best distortion/overdrive unit that exists, but the principle is so great that if you'd apply it to a unit like a TS-9, you would probably get the best on earth... 2 channels, a full parametric EQ (Freq, Q, Level (cut/boost), a delay line usable in chorus, flanger or short delay, an aditionnal High Filter and Low Boost internally switchable... All of this controlled by 7 external pots, 7 internal DIP switches, and 2 trimpots. Lots of fun. For 20, delivered...
An Ibanez WH10. Obviously not worth the 200 some pay for it. But it certainly was worth the wait, it's a GREAT wah.
I'm still waiting for some fun. A SG-1, a boxed PSM-5, 2 Ibanez EQs (9 and 808 serie), a Ibanez FLL, a Dod FX17 wah/volume... |

They have some pretty cool pedals in the PDS series. One of my faves was/is the Double Play, which is a delay and a chorus in one unit with 2 pedals, 1 for each effect, and indepenedent controls for both effects. I thought it was brilliant, and I am surprised no one really makes a similar unit these days.... |

| I got 4 PDS : 1550 Programmable Distortion, 1700 Stereo Chorus/Flanger, 2715 Rock Box (distortion + chorus), 8000 (sampler). It's a great serie, all the delays/samplers are really good. Recently, a good condition PDS 8000 sold for 200$. |

thats a killer pedal, jack..
i just picked up a Crybaby GCB-95 from the local pawnshop yesterday. real cheap. i brought it home and the "wah" was gone from the pedal and its really just a volume pedal now..
the good news is that im very happy with this. i already have 3 other wahs and i kinda wanted a volume pedal. :)
just out of curiousity, why does the wah leave a wah pedal over time.. is it the pot that wears out, or the inductor? |

Hi StratoSphere Read the thread below there are lots of great links to Wah mods. Modding my Vox 847 http://www.bossarea.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2543&SearchTerms=crybaby
Go to this link first... Look at the bottom of the page, it talks about converting the crybaby Wah to a volume only pedal. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/s.castledine/greenfuz/wah.html
Also check the bottom of the circuit board, some pretend Tech's will cut a track on the solder side of the board.
If you connect a small toggle switch, to the resistor & PCB, you should be able to convert it, so that you can switch between Wah & the Volume.
On a similar note, does anyone have a second hand 100K pot for a crybaby, my original Jen Crybaby pot is a bit sick & scratchy.
The dealers want about $67Au to $70Au over here for a replacement. I have seen them go for peanuts on Evilbay US.

Hi StratoSphere Are you able to borrow a friends crybaby for comparison? If you can. check that the wiring hasn't been tampered with, by some inexperienced pedal Moder.
Get a Multimeter & do a static check of the component values, with the battery disconnected. Check the coil in electrically intact.
Look for cracked or broken PCB traces look for bad or cold solder joints Measure the pot at both ends of the rotation & in the middle.
Look for missing or moved wires.
Hope this helps. keep us informed of your progress.

Are you telling the world you'll get a Uni Vibe for 300$, or did I miss something ?
I just got an interesting addition to my collection : a Jen wah.
It's in very (very !!) good shape, it looks like it's new in fact. With the original bag.
I think it's from 1982, but I couldn't be sure. I allways thought Jen only build pedals in the late 60's and 70's. It features the white fasel.
And guess what ? It sounds great ! |

Hi Basstyra I have a JEN crybaby as well I bought mine in the late 70's early 80's It's all too far back to really remember.
Can you send me a few pic's of inside the unit? especially the pcb & the Wah pot, can you see what is written on it (the Pot) I have the open type pot, I think it's what they call the ICAR pot, it went very scratchy many years ago, so I put it aside.
I have been reluctant to fit a hotpotz 100K to it, as Dunlop now suggest, the hotpotz is a sealed unit.
Mine still has the original vinyl bag, ( pls Send me ap ic of that as well if you can).
I can return the favor & send you pics of my Jen if you are interested. Mine has the RED fasel inductor.

Here are 2 pics. It's not mine, but mine is strictly identical (only differences, the 2 big caps are orange, not white, and mine got the 4 plastic "feet").
I got the vinyl bag also.
There is solder on the pot, so I can't read all, and especially the date code. I think it's a CTS one, 137xxxx, like all the EHX effects, but the 137 is under the solder. The 4 next digits seems to be 82xx (I don't really care about the week so I don't remember the 2 last), but I couldn't be 100% sure.

I'll try to make pics of mine today. |

Thanks for the links to the Jen pics Basstyra
Mine is identical, except for the Fasel inductor. Are you still interested in pics of mine?

Basstyra I just noticed that the JEN in the links, has a DC mini jack on the side, LHS in the pic of the internals. --- Input side. Does your one have this CD jack?
Mine does not have the DC input, I would assume that my JEN may be a lot older than I first thought.
One owner, bought new, never came with instructions.
