Hey guys! Do any of you know of an effective way to restore the rubber on BOSS pedals? I have a really old DD-3 whose rubber on the switch plate is degrading.. Any tips?
don't know how you can restore rubber if it's on the way out...check out the thread on this page about replacement parts..possibly you might get a replacement base plate instead.... don't be a stranger bro..you still gigging away...? were out 2/3/ times a week these days...
This has been up on the forum a couple of years ago, I have used paraffin oil with great results. Paint the rubber with brush and let it suck for 15-30 minutes (this sounds a bit obcene.) then dry off the remaining oil. The last year or so I have used a special product for restoring car tires that has dried out, apply in the same way but remove the remaining fluid after 10 minutes. This is a better solution in my opinion. This product has different name in different countries of course, but it would be easy to find. Both metods are very good for restoring dry rubber on Boss pedals baseplate. You can also use a 800-1000 grit sand paper to rub it up, really good if the rubber is very dry and hard.
Actually I've been using baby oil, it worked when I bought it used a couple of years ago, but my old trusty DD-3 has been stored in my pedalboard in my closet for a couple of months... I just realized how old the rubber has turned today. That pedal could easily have more than 10 years.
Hey Franzoni! Long time no see! I am not playing live, I have been rehearsing with a new band for some months.. we're just building a list long enough to be able to play live. You can look for us in youtube.. Look for "los treinta guayaquil ecuador"... It's great you're still playing live!
