The same thing happened to Iggy Pop I think in the Metallic KO CD you can supposedly hear the bottle hitting him. I'm just wondering why more bands don't put chicken wire or chain link in front of the stage, like when the Blues Brothers played at that place that features both kinds of music....
I saw a bottle get thrown at Rick Nielsen back in '79 (Cheap Trick was opening for Kiss). He saw it coming and successfully ducked it, though.
They went off stage for a few minutes, then Tom Petersson came out by himself and indirectly hurled obsceneties at the guy who threw it, which the crowd absolutely loved. Rest of the band came back, and they finished the set -- and quite a good one at that; they thoroughly upstaged Kiss that night.
/was actually the first concert I ever attended //Pontiac Silverdone, about 30 feet from the stage ///festival seating ////more like festival standing
only concert i was ever at with flying bottles was about 8 years ago at the Killjoys/Headstones. although the bottles were being thrown from the front of the audience to the back of the audience.
This festival is about 2 miles from my house and this is the reason I always stay away. Last year 50cent was bombarded by bottles and cigarettes and had to abort his concert. Looks like they're making it a tradition.
I saw ACDC many years ago and they played the last outdoor show allowed in my town (ACDC's Home town btw)there was not only bottles flying through the air, but sticks and planks and other odds and sodds along with burning cars/vans as well. Very much predicted by the media, but i think it was really all due to the weeks leading up to the show where the media kept saying there is going to be a riot ete etc that made everyone tense and all jeered up for trouble. I loved it and still think it was the best live show I have ever seen ACDC really rocked that night regardless of all the strife going on!!!!
