I have just ben on a "run" if you will. Stuff just shows up at a REALLY good price and I can't not buy it. I will sell it mostily to generate more cash. Also as far as $$ goes I am no sultan(1 two year old + wife & I are both in school). But yes, I am looking for my holy grail of sound(and I'm close I can feel it!) BTW the RV3, BD2, CH1, and CS3 all came with boxes and manuals and are all mint! Coming soon to an ebay near you. |

I built one more of Moodys boxes, a clean boost. Less than one hours work from start... And it is a nice clean boost with plenty of volume, the is also a knob marked Boost, this dirtens the things a bit, nice! The manual for the procedure is very, very detailed and there are (as usual) resistors and other components for the mods written about in the manual. Look at: www.moodysounds.se I have talked to Albin (who runs Moody Sounds), a nice guy whos burning for pedals. I tried to get him to the forum, as he has a good knowledge of the technical bit.
Yesterday I bought and buildt Moodys Tremolo kit, easy as usual. When ready it sounded almost like the T Rex tremster. I will add one more pot so I can vary the output volume, |

Decided to get one of the Behringer clones, and got a SE200 Spectrum Enhancer. Clone of the SP-1. Fits both the BCB-60 and BCB-3 cases, but my only quam is they put the adapter plug on the right hand side by the input jack. Maybe if I get bored in the winter, I'll rehouse it in a Boss case and see how close the unit is to the real SP1
Took a bit to dial it in, but once I did, sounded really nice. Especially with a mij DS1 + EH2 after it with the high strings Only three more of these to go, I figure. Wanted to get some of the clones of the super rare ones, like the SG1, VB2, and want to try out their Rotary Machine |

Are you guys scared to tell what non-Boss pedals you buy??? I bought EH Little Big Muff some days ago, not the original one but thr newer in mini enclosure. I had a Big Muff in the 70s and had forgotten that the Muff have huge gain capalibilities, nearly scared my amp into litteraly burning up.... I like this fuzz a lot, it has a silky feeling to it, a little smoother to your ears than the average fuzz. |

Gee, some of you guys seem to buying pedals all the time.
Do you really have the time to use all this stuff then? time to experiment with set-ups and other issues?
I have not bought much over the last months and will not for quite some time as I am still trying out new things with what I just have.
Man if money is scarse on this planet, time is another issue.
what about writing songs? If any of your guitars inspires you to come up with a new song, so does any of your pedals..........okay just a thought.
Been reading most of your posts, noticed that some of you do use the MXR equalizer, the older one. 6 band, no ON/Off Status [that really sucks!!], no adaptor-socket, but souding even better than the Boss GE6!!
Okay I will just slip in one pedal I really have been enjoying lately[not new, have had this for over two years, but yep, been sitting there, because.........well you know what I mean eh?!!
It is the Schaller tremolo, really nice shimmer, more versatile that the trem. on a Twin. Downer is the plastic on/off switch, so it is a Step-with-your-socks-on job.
Very easy to get in time with your playing, a goodwun I would think. |

Guyatone PS-101 Phase Sonix Rolly Box

This is certainly an interesting sounding pedal. I'd say it's a cross between a phaser and an auto wah. With speed turned up full it sounds to me like a univibe-type sound, I will need to learn Pink Floyd's 'Any Colour You Like' (edited because I didn't know my Floyd..) The depth control is also a phase selector (At least according to some reviews I've read - it functions as a switch as well as a potentiometer) though I need to use it more to discern the sound differences.
The picture above is after I cleaned it up. The top was broken off one of the knobs but luckily the parts were all in the box - I also glued the broken ac-jack back together.
Like my other Guyatone pedal (the PS-109 Delay) the footswitch does not click - it is a silent switch. The LED stays on whether the effect is engaged or not, maybe a battery indicator rather than an effect indicator.
I'm guessing the pedal is late 70's, maybe 1978? |

I have one of those MXR 6-band equalizers. I must admit I bought it because of the Van Halen connection, though in all the pics I've seen of EVH's pedalboard he never actually connected it. I think it was a backup, or maybe for studio use only. He actually used Boss GE-10's on stage.
The 6 band also acts as a great booster, it gives a real volume boost (in the same way the DynaComp can).
Opening up these old MXR pedals is a pain, but the batteries last a long time (at least in the 6 band and DynaComp that I have). You can get a lot of tonal variety out of the 6-band, I'm still discovering what it can do. I haven't tried a GE-6 so can't compare. |

Hi guirat
( Guyatone PS-101 Phase Sonix Rolly Box )
Do you have any sound samples? Or are there any on the web?
Interesting pedal with it's dual functionality. Nice condition as well.

Hi Dr Bob, The condition is pretty good, I had to give it a scrub and fix a broken knob and AC Adaptor. Still missing an underside screw, I'll have to try and find one.
I've been playing around with it today, so will update my findings here, I'll leave my initial impressions above unedited:
The depth knob acts as a switch when turned far left. 'Off' seems to have no impact on the overall sound (though I have read it is 'out of phase' sound). Turning the knob clockwise adds more pronounced 'phaser sweep' (also adding treble and removing bass - like a tone knob). I prefer it pre 12 o'clock with plenty bass.
With speed set around 12 o'clock it is more like a tremolo effect than wah, but moving on to 2 o'clock it does sound like an auto wah effect, then it goes into vibe territory around 3 o'clock. I'm not too familiar with Univibes, maybe a bad comparison - a better description is that if you manually turn the speed knob it sounds just like a Resly Machine ramping up & down - it's a Leslie Effect.
I haven't seen any sound samples on the web, it sounds much like a Maestro PS-1 Phase Shifter (basically a Resly Machine in a different case), the difference being you can adjust the settings on the Rolly and get far more subtle mixes. Here's a link to PS-1 clips: http://www.modezero.com/maestro-ps1a.htm Check out the clips showing speed changes which is the 'ramping effect'.
I will have to try making some clips myself, I have several 'Leslie' type effects now, it would be interesting to compare them.
Edit> PS, I'll get that amp vid you recommend sometime, with work I just can't stay up late enough to download it in my free-bandwidth time, one of these weekends... Edit 2>> Perhaps I can set the downloader to stop at a certain time in the morning? I can't risk it eating all my daytime download allocation, I'll look into it. Edit 3>> Removed link. Thanks re: the file, I will let you know if I have problems getting it.

Hi guirat & Guys
In guirat previous post.
You can't hot-link to the link for the MP3 Demo You will have to copy & paste the link, into a new browser window
Hey guirat, based on that MP3 sample, that is one nice sounding effect you managed to get yourself. And a good job gluing the knob, I can't even see the split.
Regards Dr. Bob
PM me if you can't get enough bandwidth for that file. I have it, we might be able to work something out.
