To be honest, he could have provided that advice in Arabic and it would have made as much sense.
A very good friend of mine is an electronics expert, and he's offered to have a look at it for me.
I'll keep you posted, but in the meantime, I'm holding back on the plans to mod my DS1.
Time for another Guinness!

I'm kind of late into this thread, but Dr. Bob just directed me here as a means of talking me out of modding a CE-2.
However, I can shed some light on Monte Allums suggestions, above. In Monte's mod kits, whenever he supplies a replacement op amp, he provides a socket for it. So, you remove the old 8-legged op amp IC, solder in the 8-pin socket, and the PLUG the new IC into the socket. This has two advantages: 1) it keeps noobs with soldering irons from burning up the new IC trying to install it (and then blaming MA) and 2) it makes the ICs easy to swap.
It's unlikely you'll be able to insert the original IC in the socket (since it has solder all over its leads) but, you can easily experiement with other ICs - any place that sells DIY pedal parts will likely stock several varieties. Plugging a 4558 in there is any easy task, and may get it where you want it. |

| I dont understand how a bad opamp would cause this problem - bad opamps usually distort, never seen one that would change the degree of treble in this way! |

Hi ecua
Welcome to the forum from Australia.
You don't mention what mods you want to do on your CE-2B.
In your other post/thread, I think you did mention that you play 6 string guitar & not bass.
Regards Dr. Bob |
