Hello everyone, thank you admins. for this forum!
I bought a used CS-3 off the bay (sn. MI 26181). It works fine with 9v battery but with a proper supply (I tried Powerall and PSA 120T) and the LED gets much dimmer and the unit doesn't function properly (signal becomes clipped and noisy). Pull out the supply and go battery and all is good. Also just for reference it doesn't matter whether the batt. is installed or not: the unit will not work right with the PSA and the power supplies work fine on all my other pedals including BOSSes.
The blue wire coming off power supply receptacle, neg center goes to #13 on the pcb and the first component in line there is a diode. Is it possible then someone used an improper supply and cooked it and if so what might that diode value be? If the diode isn't the issue can anyone suggest what it might be?
Thanks ahead for your help, GM Reszel |

| Does it say you should use an ACA adapter right on the pedal? |

I have done a search and have now been enlightened on the whole daisy chain, psa, aca thing from stinkfoot. I guess I should've looked more carefully on the F.reakin' A.hole Q.uestions :)
Thanks anyway, in process I've found a fantastic forum!
Best regards, GM Reszel |

Hi gmreszel
Welcome to the forum from Australia.
There's some really nice playing on your mypace page. Nice tone too - which or what amps did you record those tracks with?
You might have to tell us more about some of those guitars you have built over the years. They look & sound very interesting.

Hi Dr. Bob, thank you for your comments and greetings. I'm pleased you liked the myspace clips. The cleaner, SRV'ish stuff was played plugged straight into a Marshall 2061x with all knobs dimed (ok - both knobs dimed ;) ). Any apparent change in gain is from working the guitar volume. I like to put two mics xy patterened about 12 feet back in a big room and about 6 feet off the floor - ie, exactly as I'd be standing in front of the amp playing it. When I demo pickups or guitars I feel that is the most honest representation of how the amp/guitar/effect would sound in a real world sit.
The clip that has tons of room ambience is where I first started fiddling with recording and the mics are way back in the room. While I like that soaked feel it's too wet to analyze an effect but yeah I really like it - that amp was my 100 watt Cameron modified Marshall, guitar plugged straight in and master on 7 (pre gain on 4).
If you click on 'lyrics' on any of those demos I go into a bit of detail about what I used on that particular clip.
Many of the guitars I've made have a common theme and that is neck through design with purple heart as the center. I feel this is some of the strongest sounding wood out there - in terms of attack and sustain. I'm also enjoying working with domestic American Cherry - a much more resonant wood - somewhere between Alder and Mahog.
There's many examples of the guitars I made at my former company Grem USA where I was the design luthier, you can see that at http://www.myspace.com/gremusa(fixed URL here too).
Thank you again and I would like to make sure everyone knows I'm not fishing for business but you asked and I'm happy to share my experience with this forum as you are all generous with your information.
Thanks again for the forum and I'll be posting and lurking about!
Best to all, GM Reszel
