As I just received my long awaited PH-1R I wonder if there are Silver screw ones? Mine has a black screw. Ser no 082900 (July 1981) P in PH-1R located under s in Phaser.

Dr Bob,I dont know how to upload pictures...
Could those of you who have PH-1R post serial and type of screw, would be interesting to see how far back black screw was.
By the way, mine has the "Use a coin" black label. |

hi goran...i was just wondering if you ever had or have a ph2 and how the two pedals compare against each other.....??.... i put my ph2 back on the pedalboard and i'm using it with the res nearly off..depth 75%...rate 40% in mode I.....mostly in combination with the ch1 to get a slow leslie effect.....have you had the chance to compare it to any of the other boss phasers...?(or even some other makes....??....."sacrilege mentioning other phasers in the presence of the holy PH1r"..... .... )... |

I have PH-2 sice several years and never used it much, Im not that fond of phasers and if I like one its the EH Small Stone. PH-1R is something near the EH, not exactly like, but they have the same "vibe". PH-2 doesnt have that, but this is a matter of taste. I just played with PH-1, PH-1 and PH-2. PH-1 sounds great but I certainly like PH-1R better, they arent very different but the "vibe" I mentioned is more in PH-1R. PH-2 can be made to roughly sound about the same ath both the others, but its more sterile sounding, not so organic. |

That's a coincidence. My PH-1r has serial 082900 too Vim Fuego's 9900 is the earliest PH-1R 've seen so far. |

Hello! This is my first ever post.
I've just bought a silver screw PH-1r in lovely condition, serial number 0300 (Feb'81)
I'm not sure if I'm being dim, but I can't work out how these numbers work? If they have to end in '00', what's the next number, because 0400 says March, 0500 April etc... I'm sure they made more than one a month. |

Ah! Thanks for the quick response and the welcome Dr.Bob!
If it's a secret, I can live with that!
I think I'm going to like it here, and I seem to have accidentally started a small collection of pedals... (Shame I sold my PN-2 and DC-3 a couple of years ago. Doh!)

It's not a secret but it may appear like one when the data is output from the decoder.
All ink stamped serial numbers end with 00 and all pedals made within that one month will have the same serial number. The same applies to most 6 digit serial numbers.
Up until 79xxxx they all ended with 00. The 2 first digits denotes the month but what the middle numbers mean is still not known. We know they're not a true serial number. From the first post you can see that Goran has a PH-1R with serial 082900. Funnily enough I have one with the exact same serial. Maybe they're also made on the same day? I don't know. |
