Hi~ I've been wondering about this pedal. Now I know nothing will beat miking an actual acoustic, but for times when a super quick change up is needed what do you think of this effect? I had been thinking about a guitar with a piezo under the bridge, but this could be a considerably cheaper solution! |

the AC-2 is awesome. its purpose is to simulate an electric acoustic. it sounds really good with the top and body controls. obviously not as good as having a real acoustic, but this is the next best thing. the AC-3 just came out recently although i havent had a chance to try it out. |

Hi Guys
Keep the level out of your guitar low, about 60-70% The input clips really easily & quickly, if it clips you will hear it in the upper boosted register. & it's not a nice. And don't strum too hard.
To make it sound even more realistic. Add some:
Reverb. Slight delay DD-2 is good. minimum slapback-repeats And some CE-2 chorus. ( slow and about 70-90% on the depth), this will make the sound richer & more acoustic like.
For more of a 12 string sound play with the settings on the CE-2 to richen up the sound to taste.
Keep the added effects to a minimum - less is more in this case.

Placement in the pedal chain is critically important with the AC-2.When I first got mine I put it at the end of the pedal chain and then to two amps,it just seemed like it should go last because it splits to two amps. The AC-2 is a MODULATION`pedal and must be placed accordingly for suitable results. I agree totally with Dr. Bob about the delay and reverb, after all if your simulating acoustic sounds you are probably looking for a country flavour. For some Rockabilly I'll use my Blues Driver with a small amount of gain to darken the tone. I usually use the jumbo mode but that is just my preference. I really like this pedal and it was cheaper than electrifing my acoustic, which I don't want to do to my prized Gibson anyway. |

Hi,
I have both the AC-3 and the AC-2 (acually I have two from each one). My acoustic chain is the AC-3/2 -> CE-5 -> RV-5 (when there is a stereo connection between the CE-5 to the RV-5 and to the Full range Hafler amplifier.
In such combination I emphasize the stereo effect with a touch of chorus.
For my ears, the AC-2 is better then the AC-3. I don't use the AC-3 reverb rather I use the RV-5 stereo reverb.
For recording it sounds great.
