Folks, just as I was in the middle of bragging about my new DM-2 I got; I went ahead and pulled out my old DM-3 to compare it to, and sure enough the thing has died somewhere inbetween the last time I used it (probably a year ago) and now.

Here's the info I can easily provide, tell me what else I need to bring to the table:

1) I am using an ACA-120 (the original power supply that Boss intended to be used with this pedal, not the ACA-120g version)

2) The LED lights up to full brightness

3) I can hear some sound out of the unit when bypassed, but it is a much lower volume than compared to the bypassed volume through the DM-2 (when plugged in by itself directly into the amp, as I am trying the DM-3)

4) there is no delay effect happening at all, if I jiggle the cable (coming out of the output) around for a bit, it seems like I get full signal, but I can't keep it working long enough to see if I can get full signal with delay effect working

5) I bought this used, and there are at least 3 if not 4 places where it has been re-soldered.

- The previous owner didn't have a boss power supply so he spliced the power wires (the red and black battery ones into something, I don't remember what now, but I resoldered those together and taped them off with electrical tape (this was how it was when it was working a year or so ago)

6) When I first got it, the brown wire going to the output jack had come off just during shipping, and I went ahead and resoldered it to that jack, and it was working a year ago

One of my biggest questions, is could this just be a case of dirty jacks? They are kind of rusty.

As a last note, I will take pictures later when I get home in 10 or so hours.

Probably not dirty jacks - but that rust coloured residue will respond well to some contact cleaner if it is.

I've had a couple of output jacks on old pedals disintegrate (this removes the tensioning of the contacts to the plug). Your symptoms sound JUST like my DM-3. Had to replace the output jack.

Unscrew the jack and see if it comes out in one piece...

Thanks Laurie, I will gladly try that. Any thoughts on where to get a replacement jack of the same Boss-style?

I buy mine directly from Roland (most of the pedals I buy for myself are broken). Switchcraft make one though.

Smallbear also sell an "equivalent"... if it is the output jack, it is just a simple mono unswitched output jack.
