i was told about a mod that made the ce-3 more like a stereo version ce-2, warmer and more similar to the ce-2 duh

but i cant seem to find a place where you can buy CCD-chips (charge coupled device) that where used in the pedals... the one that should make it more like the CE-2 is a chip called MN3207 anyone knows where to get it?

Hi nilo

I may have missed something, but I think you meant a
BBD Bucket Brigade Delay IC,
these we mostly made by Panasonic, If my old memory serves me correctly.

You can sometimes find these on EvilBay just do a search for the MN3207 or whatever version of the BBD you are looking for.

I believe Small Bear Electronics has these.
I don't know about suppliers in Sweden.
Be aware that Panasonic discontinued a lot of the various BBD chips.

I have the PDF datasheet for the MN3207 if you need it, but it's in Japanese, still technically readable though.

CCD's "Charged Coupled Device" are used as image sensors in digital cameras.

Hope this helps

it's the MN3207 it makes a ce-3 more like a real stereo-version of ce-2...

Hi Nilo

Are you just going to swap out the 512 stage BBD, for the 1024 stage BBD in the CE-3.

The extra 512 stages will give you longer delay, for the same clock frequency.

Would you be kind enough upload & share, the changes, that you read or are talking about.

a little hard to post a link for it, but i'll quote it:

"Some of you wrote here he dosn`t like CE-3 for its big hiss. Yeah, some units are too noisy (cause BBD registry). So i`d replace the CCD chip (MN 3207 - about $4 in my country) and it work great, no hiss, no metalic sound, realy warm, comparable with CE-2, but stereo !!! If you know what you`re doing, try it!! Absolutly perfect!!!"

thats simply it, thougt i'd give it a go...

Hi dacreed & Guys

First - thanks for your greeting.
While I don't have a direct answer for your question.

I do know that the CE-5 comes in 2 different versions:
The older one is all Analog & uses a BBD.
The newer one is digital & has some SMD (surface mount device) components.

I own an Analog CE-5, but have only seen pics of the digital one,
I think they are here on the forum somewhere.

If I read the whole thread correctly, it seems that the only reason that the BBD was changed, on that HC review, was because it went noisy
and that was the simple fix.

But it's been a long time since I read that review.

yeah, that and making the unit sound warmer, in original, the pedal has a 1024 stage BBD called MN3007, the mod is changing this one for a MN3207 to get rid of hiss + the metallic sound...

oh, and dacreed, it's OK, i don't really care about hijack as long as they don't turn my thread inte something completely different than it was supposed to be...
