Hello guys,
I'd like to start off by saying I have very minimal electric/circuitry experience. I know how to solder, and wire some A/C things, but that's about it. I failed a basic circuity course in college D:
With that said, I have a CE-20 (twin chorus) that has seemingly bit the dust. Maybe someone here can help with advice or an offer to fix!
I have tried your basic troubleshooting: different adapters/cables to no avial--the problem persists.
The problem, you may ask?
The pedal is dead, or seemingly so. When you have it hooked up and off, you get tons and tons of white noise / air coming out of it. When you turn the pedal on, the signal is silent. As soon as you turn it off, the noise starts again.
All of the buttons/knobs seem to work, but something is hosed.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks |

Hi nion
Please give us some more info, about what happened to it before it went south. Anything you can remember. Any rough handeling, Dog chewed it, a stripper spilled beer on it, whatever you can remember.
Also check the DC power input socket, the solder joints on these can crack from, pressure on the external plug. If someone accidentally steps on it or bumps-kicks it.
BTW, is it still under warranty? don't Boss now have 5 years warranty on their New stuff? I don't buy new, so I'm assuming the 5 year warranty stickers, actually mean, 5 years warranty.
Some pics would also help.
Regards Dr. Bob |

My pedals are basement-kept in a non-smoking home and rarely go out for shows. I don't think that CE-20 ever even left actually.
Basically, it wasn't mistreated, dropped, etc. The jack seems fine as the pedal gets power (tried both my voodoo labs, boss adapter and 3rdp party adapter).
What kind of pictures are you looking for? The pedal seems fine on the outside, would you want some internal shots?
Forgot to answer this: Yes, it's still under warranty for parts, but not labor. I talked to Roland and they can do an RMA, but I have to ship it to California (I'm in MD, so that's the other side of the country) and then wait for an estimate, after which I have to pay $36/hr (something like that) in labor AAAAAAAND, in addition, shipping back home to me. I figured I'd ask here before having to go that route. |

| I sent a PH-3 to Roland in California & after about 2 months & weekly phone calls to check reciept & status, they just sent me a new unit. So it took a while but I was happy. |
