So I found this Boss VE-20 twin pedal while lurking on evilBay... It's supposedly a vocal effects pedal (it has XLR in/out). Are Boss trying to edge their way into the vocal effects market now?... Like TC Helicon and Electro-Harmonix...
Has anyone used any of these vocal pedals (Boss, TC, EHX or any others)?
I'm not much of a singer, I do have a vocoder in my MicroKorg which is pretty cool, but do you need to be able to sing well to put these vocal effects to good use? |

It should do pitch-correction for you, so you don't have to be a good singer.. It also does 3-part harmony, independent of any guitars (most units require a guitar to process the harmonies).. they were supposed to ship in December, but I haven't seen any yet! |

I finally got to try one of these today!
It's really well built (as to be expected from a Boss product), but very menu-based. I fiddled a bit with the harmonies, which sound very good.. most of us were trying to get that quantized auto-tune sound, but the effect wasn't as strong as on the demo video - i think it needed a little more tweaking. All in all, a good vocal effect for the money, but the TC Helicon stuff is still pretty strong in comparison.
Hope it does well for Boss! |
