so, let's talk about the DR "Doctor Rythm" drum machines :
DR-55, DR-110, DR-220A, DR-220E, DR-550, DR-550 MkII, DR-660, DR-670, DR-770, DR-3, DR-5 and DR-880 (wich are back-track pocket studios) and DR-202 (wich is a bigger box, synth bass + drum machine).
- wich one is your favorite and why ? - and wich one comes second ? - wich one is bad ?
1 - DR-110 :
good analog sounds cheaper than a TR-606 or a TR-808 easy to program easy to use usefull LCD screen looks nice small P-Bus
2 - DR-550 MkII :
electronic (TR-like) sounds + classic drum sets, perfect for all style and easier than the DR-660 to use.
3 - the worst of all Doctor Rythm is the DR-3, horrible flat sounds and ugly lights. |

Of this list I've tried... the DR-880. Guess I'm not really in a good position to compare it with any of the others. |

| I just not tried the DR-5 and the DR-55, but already tried several times the others (Cash Converters...) actually own a 110 and played from 1995 to 1999 with a 220-E, and one of my punk band played with a DR-660 (we cannot found a drummer, so...). |

MKII.
It's the only one I own. But I'd really like to get my hand on one of those smaller machines like the 110 or 55. They look very easy to use. |

My mate had a DR-55 back in the day. i had a Roland SH-09 and he had a Moog Prodigy. Together we would conquer the world. Or something. Never happened.
There are some free Dr-55 samples here:

I like the 55. I have a couple, one working, one not... I like the roughness of the sound. Samples don't really souns the same as the individual hits have minor fluctuations in tone each time, which adds a nice shoddiness.
I don't know of many famous users apart from Joy Division and Adrian Utley (Portishead). |

That's where the sample packs provided at the link i gave differ from most - the guy is a real drumbox freak and knows that each hit is different so multisamples individual hits (or numerous loops on preset machines) so you can add variation, so you get 4x Kick, 6x Rim, 6x Hat and 8x Snare for variation. |

this site : drum machine in Flash http://www.keyboardmuseum.com/d_machines/vdrums.html you have 55, 110, 220 A and 220 E, with other old Roland and other old drum machines.
I know very well DR-220 E and DR-110, I can tell those in this site are realistic.

I just got a DR-220A and it's very easy to use. It's the first drum machine I've owned, and really the first I've spent any time with. The sounds are bad 80s digital, but it's mostly for rehearsal and triggering my DSD-2. I would love an 808 or 909, those two products make me want to expand my BOSS collection over to Roland as well.. |
