Of all Boss pedals youve bought, new or used/vintage, witch one made you most happy/euroforic? I dont mean sound wise in first place, rather one youve been searching for a long time. And then the great feeling of having it, and on top of that it also sounded very good. Maybe above your expectations. For me its absolutely DC-2, I looked for it a long time before finding it and when I got it I was very happy, the look of it made me smile. And the sound, one of the best choruses I ever heard.

Hi Goran, DeFrag & Guys
Well for now, it's my collection of CE-2's. Closely followed by my collection of XT-2's & DD-2. Then the HM-2's
I still don't own a DC-2. So that might be the one, that changes my opinion.
Regards Dr. Bob

It's got to be my DSD-2 that I bought the autumn 2000.
I went to a hospital and spent a whole day being poked, prodded and x-rayed. In the end they gave me the all clear and when I left the hospital I saw a music store right across the road. I found a rather beaten and knackered DSD-2 on the shelf but feeling sorry for myself it was just the right thing to perk myself up again. |

I also had two SP-1 for a while (a couple of years back), both bought in Sweden for around US $70 each, one SS and one black screw. You still can find bargains in Sweden even in music stores. I sure was happy for getting them that cheap, but I dont think SP-1 is something to search for because of the good sound. But SP-1 sure can put that little extra to the tone of a guitar. |

DD20 Typing in times to an exact bpm rather than a number of msec is so much more useful in a studio.
In fact some sort of delay box is the only pedal I really could not do without.

Yes, it was. I lived in Stockholm at the time. Since I was a kid I've always had to reward myself somehow after going to the doctor's or the dentist. It's the motivation I need to go there in the first place. When I was 12 I usually got myself a spiderman comic but as I got older, the purchases got more expensive. Several of my pedals have been bought directly after leaving the doc's office but none was more memorable than the DSD-2. It has however gone downhill lately. I had a tooth capped last month and all I got myself was a DVD. |

The good thing is that it was Iron maiden's Live after Death DVD. The bad part is that my DVD player broke so I haven't seen it yet.
The DVD with the naked women, I already got |

I have the opposite really, and must be one of the few I guess.
When I get a pedal I usually know what it does and what it sounds like, and often I feel like "So what the heck??"
Then after some time I start to see how good --or bad-- a particular pedal is. Also after having a few more of a similar pedal I really start to appreciate the uniqueness of a particular pedal.
Examples? TS 808--so clear in tone-- OD1--such a great Marshall pedal-- HM2--unique in sound and again very Marshall, but the opposite tonal spectrum of an OD1-- BD2--such a great pedal for chorusing-- RV2--great natural reverb-- GE6--Maybe, maybe this is the exception: I liked this one straight away and felt it was so good, but I paid way too much for it, so that takes away a bit form the "feel-good-factor"
Two more and then I will stop my list: SD1--again unique Marshall sound-- SD2--another one I liked straight away--
Another general point: Buying from Ebay--You can buy anything really, so nothing is special anymore.--- Seeing a great pedal in a secondhand shop is another matter, but the onces you see get snapped up quickly, and these days I have become more careful: Seen a few CE-2's still do not have one, but let them both pass. The guy from the shop said "Sweet pedal, it is Japenese" I thought: "So what man!!"
I guess I can tell what it will sound like and feel the chorus sound I can make at the moment cannot be bettered. It would be more a case of wanting to have another pedal for the collection.
I can see bossarea's point of buying things which make you feel happy. I sometimes do the opposite, buying things which make me feel guilty. Anyway, enough from me now and back to topic! |
