Has anyone used/tried/seen any of the old AMDEK build-it-yourself pedals? I managed to score (for FREE) an AMDEK ACP-120 adapter, which is larger than the ACA (and has its own weird contours), but seems to have the same rating (It says "Roland Products Japan" on it, and has an orange label). The white-stamped date-code is 8248, which seems straight forward enough.

I wish I could have found a delay, comp, phaser or that drum synth they used to make..

I couldn't find too much, but there's some info @ http://filters.muziq.be/model/amdek

I'll post a pic of the adapter (as weird as it seems to do so..) when I get home tonight maybe..

I've never owned any Amdek products but I suspect a lot of them are very similar to their Boss equivalents.

There's a catalog here:

Fortunately, i have one of their products, the CMK-100, a compressor. It was given me to few years back from a buddy who went to study in Japan. He got it as well as a hand me down and found no use for it and gave it to me

I tried looking for a schematic to compare with the CS-1 schematic but to no avail . All i read was that AMDEK corp became what is Roland Corp today.

With regards to the pedal it has only 2 knobs, Level and Sustain. Some of my buddies who tried using it especially on bass guitar find it very useful. Comparing it to my CS-3, before i modded it to Monte Allums Opto Mod Plus, i find it indeed better somehow with da stock CS-3.

I will post pics of it including its guts later when i get it back from a buddy who is trying it too.

This is probably a bit inaccurate. Amdek pedals was made in the 80s, well after Roland and Boss was established. I'm not sure what became of the Amdek brand but maybe it wasn't more than a brand name.

I recently picked up the PHK-100 phaser, and comparing it to samples from the net, it basically sounds just like a PH-1r. I also have the flanger (like a BF-2, I think) and the Amdek version of the Boss PC-2 Percussion Synth. I've also seen old computer monitors with the Amdek logo on them.

It seems to have been a subsidiary of Roland/Boss, aimed at the enthusiast/nerd market.. I include myself among the nerds.

I would love to get a hold of a PC-2 or its Amdek equivalent. At least I have the matching adapter...

Thanks for your replies.

@bossarea:

I stand to be corrected with regards to my statement "AMDEK becoming Roland". Thanks

Here is what i found out:

"1981 - AMDEK corporation, a subsidiary of Roland Corporation, was established in Osaka as a manufacturer of computerized music peripherals and distributor of assembled electronic music instrument parts. "
