in october 2006 I broke my Aria Pro II CTB and could repair... for 120 euros...

in the shop, there were a Washburn XS-1... for 120 Euros... I knew it should be more, I was surprised, but the guy said "the painting is damaged, I can't sell it for 200 Euros..." and I tried it : in fact, THE NECK IS EXACTRLY THE SAME for both Aria CTB and Washburn XS-1 : they were made in early 90's, in asia, so...

and I DO love y old broken Aria, but I must admit I prefer the Washburn sound...

broken guit = bad event, but cool happy end.

my pawnshop Ibanez. you know how everyone just has their "go-to" guitar. the one that just clicks whenever you hold it. well this is it. its like it was made for me. sometimes its hard to find lefty guitars, let alone ones that arent made of cardboard/particle board.

i got it like new for $125 which was a steal.

Actually, when I went to buy my first guitar(22+ years ago) I passed up an Ibanez Strat copy(black)at a pawn shop for exactly $125. At the time I was more concerned about looks and ended up buying a Cort Strat copy(gray and smoked gray) new somewhere else for $130 or so.

Some years ago I began thinking "what a mistake" and seriously regretting it, but over the past year or so, when I started really getting back into playing, I realized what a quality guitar this actually is for what I paid.

I think this will always be my go to guitar even though I plan on expanding my collection considerably... alongside my Boss collection of course

I met someone saying he had a gibson SG that he was trying to get rid of for $200. I said told him I would buy it right away, but we were both drunk, so it was forgotten. 2 or 3 months later I finally remembered and went to get it. turns out it was an epiphone though, and he didnt know the difference. So I bought it for $140 instead.
Still a good deal though.

My Squier Standard Fat Telecaster that I just got a few months ago was a great deal because I paid for most of it from money I made off eBay from items I got for free, so I got the Antique Burst Fat Tele for just $60 out of my own pocket. The Vintage Blond Fat Tele I just got recently was a great deal at $160 as another websit has it for sale for $250...So I got great deals on the my 2 Teles....

My best buy ever must be a refinished 62 Telecaster, this was really my first quality guitar, I bought it for around $120 circa 1978. Didnt have it for long, sold it for a little more and bought a new Strat.
My best buy in later years must be my psychedelic Strat, found it in a store for around $150.
My eyes went for it directly I saw it, a Strat painted in multi colours with butterflies, sculls and you name it. Beautifully done and I loved it directly. The guitar was really beat up under the painting, the frets were really low and well used, the peghead was sanded so there was no logotype. I bought it directly and brought it home, but it was due to the frets a hard guitar to play so I made a slide guitar out of it. Sounded very sweet, my best slide guitar ever.
A friend good at vintage guitars took a look at it, got really interested and investigated it closely. The neck was a Mighty Mite, the pickups Tocai E-type (made by DiMarzio), the body, bridge and knobs Fender probably from the late 60s.

My best deal is what got me in to play guitar to begin with.
This guy in my building was having a moving sale and posted a few things for sale, one being a electric guitar, hard case, wah and amp.
Went to go see him later that day and he shows me a Hagstrom Swede tobacco sunburst, vintage 1980, early 90s Crybaby cgb-95, and a crappy little Ross RG-10 10w (iirc) all for a low price of...wait for it...$40! yep, $40 dollars was his asking price, i didn't know anything about guitars, guess he didn't either, hard pressed to get a wah for $40, or even a amp, turns out its roughly a $1K guitar
This is definatley one guitar that won't leave my possession, i joke about a coffin with an extention off to the side for the arm

no regrets over selling a '88 MIJ Strat i had for a bit,
didn't feel right...

My 1989 PRS CE 24 (Adler body if I'm not mistaken) that I bought in a pawnshop auction for 4400 SEK ($630) back in 1993.

There are some pictures of it on:

with closeups if you click on "Bildarkiv 1994".

i think i need to go on a shopping spree/vacation in Sweden.
Amazing deals on pedals, rare/lost guitars, and of course Hagstrom!!
Just did a quick conversion, you meant 70USD right?,
70SEK is almost free

I was talking about 70USD above, SP-1.
To find rare vintage guitars in Sweden for nothing is not possible anymore, well it could happen just as it could in Germany or UK.
But in Sweden the value of vintage pedals hasnt reach everyone yet, not even the big stores. For a couple of month ago I bought a 1981 SD-1 for about 40USD and at the same time a MIJ CE-2 for about 50USD (both in excellent condition). And this was at Swedens biggest musical instrument store, Musikborsen.

I read in a magazine a while ago that Billy Gibbons had been trawling music stores in Sweden trying to find a specific Hagstrom guitar. In the end he had to leave empty handed.

My best buys..i've been pretty lucky i got most of my guitars years ago before the prices for american fenders went totally ballistic..... my '67 coronado i got for 200 irish..... but recently i was lucky enough to get my hands on two jap squiers from the late 80's early 90's a strat and a tele which i upgraded with better pickups...both for 200 euro but people here are starting to cop on to the build quality of these ones over the later squiers...but even now i'm still looking for a bargain...!! dr bob i'm taking the doc's advice and buying as much as i can now before franzoni no 3 arrives....!!.........
