okay so I got this near mint CS-1. bought it cause I wanted some optocompression. and guess what... instant cream... I love the sound... I even love the long attack time.

Just one thing's is kinda bothering me.... it seems to sound slightly tremolo-ish when letting chords ring...

If that's typical for a CS-1 that's something I can live with since I dig the sound so much... if it's something that can be modded away however I might wanna think about that option...

I'm always using it in treble mode btw... already thinking about getting a second one... but I think I'll wait till my two LM-2s arrive

anyway... please share your experience with your CS-1

I made the same experience with the pumpimg decay with the CS-1 and I think thats normal. After all for a "normal" compressor the CS-1 is not the best choice but for a sound forming unit I love it

thanks for your reply.

and yeah that's what I thought....

I don't really need typical compression anyway... (my rectifier valve takes care of that) I need something obvious.

would've still been cool to have the option to turn the "pumping decay" off.

just realized that it's you christoph.... thanks again for the Guv'nor mail.... I ended up buying a NOS DriveMaster (since I already have the ShredMaster and the BluesBreaker - I wanted to complete my collection) and if the loop is after the actual overdrive it's no real use for me...

cheers,
mully

I like the CS-1 too.
I must say, I don't use any compression in general, for me it's more some kind of effect and the CS-1 helps me to create really cool sounds!

I tested my CS-1 yesterday due to this topic.
Well, at very low sustain (under 9 o clock) settings it sound damn good, a nice thickening/fattening of the tone, both at clean and distorted settings of the amp.
On higher sustain settings I dont like it, too much pumping, but it can be used as a sonic effect of course.
