Just received a nice MIT CE-2 serial 910184 inside the battery compartment. Very nice shape - from above it looks to be perfect, though you can see some scratches around the front edge.
Now, its time for a CE-2 vs. CE-3 no-holds-barred smackdown to see who gets the spot on the pedalboard. |

Hi Rich_S Congratulations on your CE-2
Dr. Bob's current count: CE-2's .. CE-3 .. CE-5 Vintage analog version.
I'm, still a few CE-2's short of my GAS goal.
I really hope you enjoy the use of your new CE-2, I love all of mine, from the SS MIJ & Green label MIT's.
Don't ask me about my other collection of chorus units ..
Regards Dr. Bob |

Hey Dr Bob, you should try a CE-20 and CH-1 just to round out your collection of Boss chorus pedals! |

Hi Ronster
Maybe next month, as I told you, I had a big GAS attack, last Saturday, and not one Boss pedal amongst the lot.
I did get some really cool, early 80's vintage gear.
Do you have the CH-1 and the CE-20 Ronster?
Regards Dr. B b

This is not my first CE-2, it's merely the latest step in trying to re-create my rig from my bar-band days circa 1984.
I bought my first CE-2 in around 1980 and built its guts into the control cavity of a Les Paul. My second came a year or so later, when I built my first pedalboard.

I've probably owned about 4 all together over the years, but never more than one at a time. |

Ha-ha! I just noticed... Look at the knob on the bypass switch in pedalboard numero uno. I bet that knob came off the CE-2 that went into the LP.

The one shown above was my first attempt, somewhat inspired by Pat Travers, Andy Summers, and Pete Cornish, circa 1980. The pedals have their backplates removed, and are screwed from the back onto the 1/8" aluminum top plate. +9V, input, and output connections are soldered onto the appropriate points inside the pedals, then exit into the pedalboard through a grommet under the pedal. I've build four or five major revisions of this idea over the years. There's a pic of the latest version here in the "Photo Gallery" thread:

BTW, I had 5 minutes to compare my CE-2 and CE-3. Looks like the -2 will be replacing the -3 on my current board. The CE-3 sounds... bigger? Wider? More hi-fi? Anyway, it's not really what I want. I like the CE-2's smaller sound. |

Well, it's been 25 years, but if I recall, the 3rd jack was a spare - the toggle switch would wire it in parallel to either the input or output, to connect a tuner or a second amp, or whatever. The ex-CE-2 knob was a 4PDT rotary switch that bypassed the whole pedalboard in case of failure. The big lightswitch-looking thing was an input mute. The exposed fuse clips weren't wired - they just held spare fuses.
In 25 years, I have had to open up a pedalboard for a repair at a gig exactly once, so most of the extra reliability features are gone from my more recent boards: no fuse, no bypass, no spare jack. Just the pedals, input and output jacks, ground lift switch, and the AC power input on an IEC connector. Three plugs, take off the cover, and play.
We're off-topic, aren't we?
Looking back at that old picture, I'm kicking myself. CE-2 and BF-2, both MIJ chrome battery screw. Gone. Sob. |

Hi Ronster I think it's a trick question, How big is the guitar?
Real answer: As many as will fit in it.

ha ha I wish I could take credit for it but I think it was Christo that asked that one!
I wonder if you get few pedals (or even a board) on a guitar! Imagine trying to dial up your settings!
