| Hey, I've recently discovered the CL-50 compressor/gate half rack unit. Up until now I've been trying to get my hands on the RCL-10 and have heard really good stuff about it. I'm wondering what the differences are and if one is a lot better or what? It looks like they do the same things, but I've only seen pics of both and haven't played with either. Thanks in advance! |

Also...what were the original prices for these units?
On Ebay its tough to get an RCL-10 for $100. I'm only 21 and only started playing guitar about 5 or 6 years ago, so I don't know jack about gear from the 90's... |

You should be able to find both of these units cheaper than $100. The RCL-10 was one of the first microrack units I bought. I paid about $60 and when I searched for the other units I regularly came across the RCL-10 for as low as $40. The CL-10 is typically priced a bit higher but that too often less than $100. I haven't tried the CL-50 so can't compare them. |

I can only comment on the RCL-10 but I recon the CL-50 is basically the same, just a little newer. I bought mine for 50 euros, and it's absolutely super quiet, almost studio quality stuff, in fact the entire halfrack series is. (I also have the RDD-10 delay/modulation). It's super tweakable, and the built in noisegate also works like a charm. Another cool feature is the 2nd 9 volts connector for daisy chaining several units togeter on a single adaptor. |

From what I remember of poking inside these units, the microracks look like expanded versions of some of the pedals: the RRV uses the same IC as the RV-2, the RDD uses the same IC as the DD-2, and the RPH uses the same ICs as the PH-2... I suspect the RCL is a big brother of the CS-2.
I'm going from memory here, and might be wrong, so am happy to be corrected.
I use an RPH, RRV, RDD and RCE, and think they're great, especially for the money. Good in combination, and nice complements for more modern higher-spec effects. |

| Thanks for responding everyone! If any of you find the RCL-10 for a decent price, please let me know asap (PM me or email me at drewkiewiet@sbcglobal.net). I don't feel like spending 100 dollars on one on ebay...there is a CL-50 at $16 right now on Ebay...but like I said, I've heard a lot more about the RCL-10... |

i used to have an RCL-10 and now have a CL-50.
there's not a lot between them to be honest, but i definitely prefer the CL-50; it's quieter and i like the 'Input' control.
they seem to be pretty cheap on ebay (UK); i bought mine for 28 (approx $46). |
