I have a DD-2 and when I first connect up the leads to input and output and then press the pedal to engage no light comes on. If I hold down the pedal for 5 seconds and release the light comes on and it works perfect. When I then press to turn off and then press again to turn on it's instant like all my other pedals. Any ideas or is this the way this pedal is supposed to be on initial set-up. ????
Thanks
Tim

Hi borroway, welcome to the forum. I think this is normal, my DSD-2, RV-3 and DD-5 all do it.

welcome to the forum..... possibly it's some sort of 'start up' thing in these pedals as the DSD-2 and the RV-2/3 were some of the earliest 'frontline' boss digital effects if memory serves.... ...........

Hi borroway

Welcome to the forum from Australia.

The delay is normal for a DD-2.

Most people think it's a fault, some even think they have bought a faulty pedal/

You shouldn't need to hold down the pedal for 5 seconds though. Waiting 5 seconds before switching it on normally should be fine. Do you need to keep your foot down for that long for it to work?

Sometimes my ss/long dash CE-2 also does this. But I don't have to hold it down for 5 seconds- it just takes a second push then seems to engage/disengage w/ no problems...

I have an HR-2 that does the opposite.
When i connect the power, the LED stays on for a couple of seconds, and i press the pedal but the light does not go off.
I believe it a thing that all first generation digital pedals have.

Here's a quote from the DD-2 manual that may clarify things:

By muting circuit system, no effect works for about 5 seconds after the unit is powered on.

Ah - engrish at its finest...

But yes - this is normal for a DD-2 (and a host of other digital pedals). On powerup, it will take a few seconds before the pedal is ready to go. Holding the switch down during that period isn't required, and doesn't speed things up - just plug the power in, wait a few seconds (possibly there are other pedals to mess with for a few seconds? ) and then step on the DD-2 to activate it.

I have the opposite problem. When ever i put a lead into the guitar input the LED comes on automatically. All though i think this is meant to happen it does get annoying sometimes.
