I quite fancy the new EHX V256 vocoder pedal...
and am starting to get mild GASsy notions of a bass of some kind, but I know next to nothing about them. A whole other world of pain may be about to open up before me. |

I've been gasing for amps lately. Tiny little valve amps. Weird vintage tube amps with little to no controls, just tubes. Plus some Shure 57s to go along with them.
Of course there is the constant gas for Boss/Roland gear and a Baritone guitar. These pains never seem to leave. |

My guitar GAS was cured until I saw this: http://store.guitarfetish.com/xvofhygfspis.html
I mean, yeah, I got a bunch of Teles, but because of this, the idea of a Tele setup in a non-Tele shaped guitar is very intriguing.
At this point I am resisting urges to buy, but I will pull the trigger if some of the wrestling videos and DVDs I have on eBay sells...or maybe once my credit card moves into its next billing cycle... |

I thought I'd never say this, but my DD20 may go soon...
I've decided I want an Eventide TimeFactor. |

The Harley Benton amps could be modded to sound teriffic, but not a cheap thing to do as the OT usually have to go. |

Yep and for 144 for a tube amp with a line out and a effects loop it's pretty sweet...some of the reviews on the 'net said a speaker upgrade made a big improvement....maybe stick a celestion, eminence, jensen etc...into it... |

Franzoni, Google and find mods for the Benton amp, I promise you will have a great time modding it. Upgrades in speaker, tubes are obvious, but not cheap. You can use a speaker cab you already have, and listen if a speaker upgrade is worth the money. The nice thing about modding is that you can tailor the amp to your own wants, components are cheap (resistors etc).

Cheers Goran.. i was thinking about after and a couple of 15 watt heads would be great.. i could use the two 1 x 12's i built as they have Celestion V30's in there... or even one head as they seem to have two 8ohm speaker outputs...ther HB GA-15 doesn't seem to come in seperates for some reason... or at least Thomann don't seem to have it...might start saving up for a blackheart HD-15 head instead.....i have my little 15 watt '61 selmer but i'm starting to get a bit protective about that and the Marshall superbass head for live and rehearsing... even the Musicman combo,my main gigging amp probably deserves a rest but i would find it very hard to replace her without going for a serious top end amp.... .. |

You could make a head out of the Combo Harley amp, not difficult. I did that with a 50s Gibson amp when I was 14-15 years old, wasnt that wise

Hi Franzoni Nice looking little amp. And the mic'ed up demos sounded pretty good as well.
I noticed that they say it's all tube, but don't mention what tubes or many other specs.
It's probably running in single ended Class A something, from what I could tell from the two demos.
On the subject of the Vintager 108, that I have been using for the past few months. Some do have a bit of low level residual hum. From what I could tell when I had it in bits on the lab bench. It looks like the filter caps might need to be a bit bigger. They used 1000uf with side of center-tapped full wave rectifier. A little on the low side for my liking. There is a second rail that has 220uf caps on it as well. when i get a bit of time, I'll replace both sets of caps. probably double them in value,
I have been taking live measurements on the 12AX7 as well, if any one is really interested. They arrear to use a Cockcroft-Walton (diode/cap ladder multiplier) to get the plate voltages. It took me a while to figure this out as the SMD components are, very well hidden on the single PCB.
Here's a link to one running in the lab: http://members.tm.net/lapointe/Cockcroft_Walton.htm And the Wiki info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cockcroft%E2%80%93Walton_generator
Warning do not try this at home! Unless you rally know what you're doing.
Simple example with circuit: http://www.energeticforum.com/renewable-energy/3828-cockcroft-walton-generator-multiplier.html
