I posted the other day about how i was getting on with my new setup and Dirk asked for some pics so i thought maybe some of the rest of you bossareans might like to post what you use on a gig or even if you don't gig, what you would use if you had to cart this stuff around...?...this can be a good way to have a hard look at what you use and what you really need...nothing like having to carry something heavy up a couple of flight of stairs to make you ask yourself the question.."do i relly need this for 30 seconds in a song that we play on every 3rd gig..?".... .... anyway i hope to see some other rigs posted.....maybe witloofboers rig with the Leslie cab...?.....

Nice one Franzoni!
Haven't been an actual gigging musician for years myself (work commitments make it hard). Purely basement. No gig-rig to speak of right now, but when I do it will be a Musicman Stingray 5 bass, Eden WT400 head, and Eden 4x10 cab. Pedals will be a Bass Wah and a chorus (probably a CEB-3). |

Nice rig Franzoni, I bet it sounds real spacious with the chorus/flanger and leslie across 4 speakers.
I don't play guitar in a band, so here's just my bass rig. I basically plug into this, but I also have a nice Gallien-Krueger 2x10 cabinet I can add to the system if the stage is bigger. Usually this suffices. The amp is a Gallien Krueger 700RB into an Avatar 2x12 cabinet with a Boss RDD-10 for chorus and an RCL-10 compressor in the amps loop.
I use the CS-3/CE-2b combo at home, the only pedals I bring are a TU-2, a PH-1r and a custom build bass overdrive on a small pedal board.

I think this is the best picture that I've got of my live rig 'in action' It was taken during a soundcheck at an outdoor gig last year that started off in bright sunshine and ended up cold & drizzly - the weather that is, not the gig - that rocked!!

That JVM is a beast to cart around - so heavy two-man job to do it safely. It's always mic'd up and put through the desk.
The pedal set up is the BCB-60 through the JVM effects loop and the other pedals direct into the amp.

I know what you mean bro' ..the Musicman is also quite a heavy amp that isn't getting any lighter as i get older...
Dirk...yep the chorus and flanger sound great for mono pedals..the leslie effect is amazing and real fun to use,a really warm vibey effect and everyone comments on the sound of it also on a slow setting it sounds excellent a bit like a chorus/uni-vibe...if you ever listened to DSOTM by the floyd ..'us and them' gilmours opening guitar part and you have that sound plus the fast speed is 'any colour you like when gilmour does the lead bit after the keyboards near the end..classic leslie... ..i've setup a couple of patches on the Pod with a big, long delay and reverb...when you swell the volume knob on the strat you get a synthlike effect...i've had musicians and non-musicians asking if we were using backing tracks or where the keyboards were...? as i posted over in the FAQ section the wet/dry/wet didn't work out quite as i planned...i still have the DD-3's and the modulation pedals on the board...what i do have is the reverb outside of the main amp plus with the touch of a button i have access to preprogrammed delays, reverbs, leslie etc while still having my 'normal' sound with the boss stuff through the Musicman....plus the footswitch allows me to tap tempo the delay patch in the pod if i want..too many years listening to the floyd and gilmour.......
nice rigs so far guys...keep them coming.... |

Here on this gig I just used my bass into my own Orange combo and into a Peavey with 120 watts, I made a nice combo-stack there! The Peavey was on that moment used by the guitarist's brother, who borrowed it from someone. Now he has his own amp, a Fame combo, and if there's no possibility to DI or mic I use a Orange/Fame stack.

But normally we have this possibility and then I use my Orange only because it's tone is way better. On the last gig I have used my ME-50B. I left the comp always on and my sound was the best I had so far on a gig. |

btw, forgot to say - the pedals used regularly live last year (in the photo above) were...
In the JVM effects loop and on the BCB-60 - from left to right:
PQ-4...set for a punchy low mid boost DC-3...set for a very slow and light chorus CE-2...set for a heavy medium speed chorus DC-2...button 4 down DM-2...set for short slap-back echo DD-7...set for a medium delay c. 250-300ms
and directly into the amp:
Keeley modded TS-9 Tubescreamer into an FBM-1 (that was a one-off for that particular gig) and into a V3 Fulltone OCD and on into the amp. I've also added a Fulltone Full Drive 2 sometimes; depending on the gig.
We are about to start planning our gig schedule for next year and, depending on the set lists, I'm betting this pedal set-up will change a fair bit. I want to bring a PW-10 V-Wah into it, if I can.
The OD2 channel on the JVM is not used live and the US Tele in the background is in open G tuning for a couple of Stones numbers. |
