CE-2...... i had/have the older analog CH-1 and it's ok,but the CE-2 Is the way to go...also i find it mixes very well with the BF-2 for a very lush/swirly/wet sound..much better than the CH-1 did....i might use the CH-1 on an acoustic guitar for a subtle chorus or take advantage of it's stereo spread into a desk or P.A.....i find both the CE-2 and the BF-2 give you a little volume boost when in use which i like......personally i would stay away from digital modulation effects..but that is only a personal taste thing.... |

I have all Boss choruses except CE-1 and CE-20, I like CE-2 a lot, but my main favourite is DC-3 followed by DC-2. I dont use chorus that much, and if, I like them subtle. Well, all Boss choruses are good, of the never ones I like CE-5.

| I have tried it in stereo & it validates itself. I'm not sure how to tell if its the ana or digi. |

Easiest way to tell if analogue - the analogue has the MN3101 and MN3007 chipset. |

if it dates in before 2001 it's analog.
if it dates in in the early part of 2001 it's probably analog. |

just picking up on the 'or other' part of the original question..we have all been suggesting chorus pedals to peebo,i can get a nice chorusy sound with a bit of sweep with my BF-2 and i've heard the EH electric mistress is good for chorusy flange type things.....Gilmour and Summers are/were major users of this one.....another thing i like is the slow speed setting of my dynacord leslie simulator(19" Analogue rack unit from the early 80's)it reminds me of a univibe and a chorus mixed together...i've noticed the CE-2 mixes in much easier with the BF-2 and the dynacord if i want to thicken the sound up even more, than the CH-1 did...... just my 2 cents..... |

CE-3 = ( ( ) <---- yes, that's an ascii butt.
the two that i had both had mega volume loss and sounded more like a DOD chorus. wasn't terrible effectwise, but the tone loss and it sounding a bit digi was off-putting.
imo, worth it if you can get an MIJ one for like $30, but not worth much more than that.

For me its the CE-2, its so good that i think it should be a /End Thread moment.
My CH-1 leaves me feeling that it could be more, not in use, but i feel that it could get some rotation back in soon, for about half a dozen minuites. I want a CE-5 for my dream rig, when i get it going as i feel that my CE-2 will only see studio/home use as its my second oldest bit of gear, and may not be easily replacible for the price i got it for.
CE-20 Chorus Double pedal, i havnt tried, same with any other older Boss chorus units.
A couple of other chorus pedals i really want to try are the Ibanez CS9 Ri Analogue Chorus and the MXR Stereo Chorus (18V supply for the MXR tho). |
