Hi Witloofboer & Guys
I'm not answering for dodino. But from what I remember, there are no actual Tubes in the EHX Hot Tubes. It's a product/marketing name, a bit like the TUBEscreamer that does not have a tube either.

Hi Everybody!
I'll try to answer the questions, please forgive my basic english. Her I go:
1) The Buffalo Pfuz is a very rare pedal manufactured by Kendrick Amplification. It looks like a sort of prototype or something like that. In fact, very few units were built, about 300. It's a fuzz unit with a clean boost, both effects sound really great. It's really funny to see how prices on the Buffalo are just going up insanly in the USA because of the rarity of the pedal, while here in Argentina I know 4 or 5 people who own it...
The fuzz doesn't really sound like a classic fuzz, dirty and agressive. Instead, sounds like a distortion pedal that gives you a lot of sustain. The clean boost is also nice, forget about modern booster to make a comparison. All in all, I think is a great effect on itself and a great invesment too, specially in your country. This pedal has a kind of "mojo", maybe because of its limited production... prices on it will probably go up and up and up...
2) The Hot Tubes by Electro Harmonix that I own is the first version, 1970's, solid state. The reissue of this pedal that actually EHX builds has a couple of 12ax7's. I've tried boths, and many pepople agreed with me: the older version sounds better. Its a great effect that turns anything you plug on it into a lovely warm valve sound. Overdrive effect on the pedal is also good, on extreme settings reach the category of a fuzz almost, but I primarily use ir as a preamp. |

I don't like every thing Boss makes as i don't like everything Marshall,Fender,Gibson etc..make either.... but a lot of those comments about Boss pedals are just ignorant and misinformed...if it's not some ultra-rare 'boutique' pedal it has to be crap.... ... |

I know, tell me about it . I remember when I joined the ultimate guitar forum and brought up metal zone mods, some guys said to soak it in rubbing alcohol, smash it with a hammer, and even to unscrew the bottom and dump the chipset in the trash, that those were the best mods they new of |

Yeah I've noticed this, hostillity towards COSM... Why? I think they're versatile bits of kit for people like myself

Funny you shound mention that to be honest... Yesterday I'd have said the same but now I actually put my MT-2 before my Whammy so... Tele > MT-2 > Whammy 4 > OD20 > Small Stone > NS2 > DD7. Using a distortion before the whammy can actually be rather interesting and the MT-2 does its intersting job well |

You should read some treads over on the talkbass.com forum. I'm not a member there but I read topics from time to time. Those guys have a serious "I better buy this expensive boutique pedal cause all the other guys say that Boss pedals suck, and the more I read it, the more I believe it and better start spreading the word" problem.
It's really that bad, and I honestly believe that most people there don't even play in a band. |

| I have to agree most of the newer boss stuff has been crappy but the older stuff seems to be alot better , maybe quality control or choice in cheaper componets is making them sound worse |
