O.K. so I have been thinking about some of the ideas that I read in the NAMM thread and I thought it would be fun to create an "invent your own Boss pedal" thread. Anything that you can think of is fair game. It can be analogue or digital. It can be a compact, a twin, dare I say a triple? Whatever you want. I can only think of one rule. It should not be a simple reissue, it should bring something new to the table (as we all know reissues are not Roland's style.)
Here goes my first idea.
Boss PN-20 tremolo/pan Twin Pedal.
The left pedal turns the tremolo effect on/off
The right pedal turns the pan effect on/off
Hold the right pedal for two second for tap tempo
expression pedal jack to control speed or allow you to manually pan left to right
Attack and duty control
COSM emulation of The Boss SG-1 and 3D panning effects. |

| Boss won't make anything new I'd ask for, as I'm a fan of thru hole design. But luckily we have Zvex, Devi Ever, and Lauriepedals to fill our needs. Don't get me wrong, I love new technology, I'm texting this on an iPhone. But when this stops working you throw it in the trash... Like a Bic lighter. |

Wow. So you are only interested in the old pedals? That's a shame. Some of the new pedals are really great. The RE-20 and RT-20 for example are a lot of fun and sound great. |

| Yeah i almost bought an RE-20 but as i thought the band should come first i bought a samson airline. The RE-20 sounds are great, even if i had an original re-201 i wouldn't lug it around with me. I've seen this mentioned before it's about time we got an RE-2. i mean if you fit an RC-20XL into an RC-2 then this must be possible too. Makes me wonder what kind of prototypes they have lying around at the Boss headquarters. |

I guess I like user servicable gear, boss still makes the DS-1, SD-1, and BD-2. All thru hole. I can't think of a boutique maker that does SMT that makes new pedals. I've got some new stuff that is SMT, but I don't think I'll be able to fix it 10 years down the road.

| like noisemaker said, a PS-20 with triatonic harmonies, and if it's a all possible, a function that allows you to harmonize in melodic and harmonic minor scales. Plus, a looper built in, they seem pretty willing to toss loopers in anything nowadays. |

| Yeah, PS-20 would be killer. I talked about wanting a polyphonic pitch shifter in the NAMM tread. |

YES. and PLEASE make it track better than the p(o)s-5.
even better than harmonic and melodic minor, programmable key sigs? or am i getting too ambitious for a twin pedal? i mean who here hasn't thought about using a harmonizer with gypsy scales?!
side note @plexi1959 - i've never had a problem playing harmonic minor with the ps-5... other than the damn tracking! |

well actually you can use it for guitar and keyboard too, even says so in the manual! it was just marketed more for bass.
but i second your $0.02 that it could be MUCH better. i still haven't found a practical use for mine. |
