Hi, I'm Alan, I'm new here but I've been using the website as an excellent reference point for quite a while now!
Just a quick one, I bought a 2nd-hand DS-1 the other day, the serial number decoder on the site tells me it's from May 1989. It's a MIT model but the sticker is a black one - however I just noticed on the site that the DS-1 page only has "Black - J" and "Silver - T". Just wondering if the DS-1 I've just got is a particularly rare one or anything?
In this case it's probably a perfactly valid bottom plate. There are black label, Made in Taiwan pedals in existance but I didn't know that when I wrote the label information for the DS-1. It needs updating.
The black label was replaced with the silver label when the pedal was redesigned for the PSA power supply. This happened around 1990 but I'm not sure exactly when. What's the exact serial number of your DS-1, Alan? I keep a registry over serial numbers so that I can eventually figure out exactly when the label changes took place.
That's the other DS-1 question I'd like to find the answer to. When did the opamp change take place? Most serial numbers I've collected doesn't include this information so I've got very little information about that. So far it looks like it changed from TAP7136 to BA728 in 1995 and from BA728 to MN5223 in 2000 but it's a +/-2 year margin on those dates.
